Tell the security folks what you have and if they could hold it for you until you disembark.

They did this for a man in front of us with some sort of large knife he bought.

They very well may just tell you to take the small pocket knife it with you.

You may have to leave it in holding until you disembark at the end of the cruise but the answer is "yes". My small Swiss Army pocket knife got taken from me at one port on a cruise we took. Got it back at the end of the cruise.

I also has a small pocket knife on my key chain taken away from me before I could board the RCCL ship. I got it back at the end of the cruise after clearing customs.

 

I agree with the other comments in that it is best to ask about your cruise ship security rules/policy on the day you depart, as the rules could change depending on the Port's threat security level for that day.
