So my son collects knives, and I was wondering if I purchase one for him in the port at Cozumel, will I be allowed to bring it on board? I'm talking a small pockets type, not a large one. Thanks in advance!

You should be fine. Just bring it on and tell the person at the x-Ray table was it is, If they ask. :cool:

I would read the rules for the cruise line you are sailing.

 

Usually pocket knives are fine on most cruise lines.

I only pack disposable clothing when I cruise now so I have plenty of room for all of them duty-free souvenirs.

They are made in China. You can get them on E-bay.

Tell the security folks what you have and if they could hold it for you until you disembark.

They did this for a man in front of us with some sort of large knife he bought.

They very well may just tell you to take the small pocket knife it with you.

You can ask security at the gangway befor getting off the ship if you will be allowed to carry it when you get back.

You may have to leave it in holding until you disembark at the end of the cruise but the answer is "yes". My small Swiss Army pocket knife got taken from me at one port on a cruise we took. Got it back at the end of the cruise.

I also has a small pocket knife on my key chain taken away from me before I could board the RCCL ship. I got it back at the end of the cruise after clearing customs.

 

I agree with the other comments in that it is best to ask about your cruise ship security rules/policy on the day you depart, as the rules could change depending on the Port's threat security level for that day.
