Best ship for "almost" adult children (19 yr olds)

My husband and I just went on our first Royal Caribbean cruise, Allure of the Seas! Loved it so much! Can never go back to Carnival now! But was wondering if there is a particular ship that anyone knows that is great for older teenage kids. We have 19 year old boy and girl twins and want to take them on a cruise in April. We're thinking of returning to the Allure since it was so nice. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Can't go wrong with Oasis ships. Try the Harmony

I would recommend Anthem, Oasis or Harmony to anyone who loved Allure!

Quantum class ships (Anthem, Quantum, Ovation) would be my recommendation. Other than that, Oasis class, the latest ships having water slides so Harmony would be a better choice than Allure.

 

My children are just slightly older. They loved Anthem and Allure and felt there was more to do for them on these ships than Indy or Navigator.

My almost adult children (ages 30 and 33) love the Oasis class. Of course, it could be that it's a free vacation.

19 is a hard age...they can use the casino but typically don't have the money, and they are too young to drink. As a consequence I would choose Oasis class because there are more options of things to do and see.

We did the Allure with our 18 yr old ds. He chose it and we all had a great time. There are so many things to do. We did Liberty a few years ago with our then almost 21 yr old ds. We enjoyed it but was only a 4 day. On allure, ds did find it difficult to meet anyone his age that was not attached to another family group. He is pretty outgoing but we did do a lot of things together. Our upcoming cruise is just DH and I. We have not cruised as a couple in almost 27 years. We shall see how it goes. ;p

Have sailed with our boys for years (now 20 and 22). The older they got they seemed to prefer the Oasis/Freedom class for the flow-rider and full-court basketball. It is a hard age to be stuck between teen club and "adult". Upcoming cruise on the Anthem I have one that can now be in the casino and drink while one is a few months away from the "magic age". Somehow they manage to find something to get into :)

Lots of people, including many adults, don't drink. I can never understand why many people use that as an excuse for not having a good time. Everyone is still able to go to the shows, bars, etc. being able to drink alcohol shouldn't make such a big difference.

I am 33 and love the Radiance and Voyageur Class of Ships. I have taken Trans Atlantic Cruises of 14 and 15 nights and was not bored. Now the Oasis may be something for me to try later on and it depends what your adult children like.

You might take a look at the newest NCL ships also. On NCL those 18-20 can drink wine and beer with parental permission, if that is something you would like. Amenities and entertainment are good also...

They can't drink but they can enjoy music, dancing, playing pool, watching karaoke in the Music Hall and bars on board. There were a couple of middle school aged kids on the dance floor during the silent dance party, no one seemed to care. I enjoyed the come and go aspect of the bars and performance spaces on Anthem. Obviously I would have a discussion ahead of time about expectations of their behavior, no drinking, no being stupid.
