Newbcruiser1 Posted October 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2017 I am embarrassed to say I forgot to bring my hairspray with me! I checked the Promenade shops and nothing! Has anyone successfully found hairspray on the ship? Or any thoughts of where I might be able to find some? spookwife Posted October 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2017 you will have to wait until your first port. or, make friends with someone who didn't forget theirs.
dwayneb236 Posted October 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2017 Strange, I would think if they sell a toothbrush, which I forgot last cruise and was able to buy one onboard, they would sell some hairspray. I saw several toiletry items in one of the shops on the Harmony, just don't remember what all was there. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of my toothbrush. Was not ridiculously priced like I figured it would be.
Cruise a holic Posted October 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 23, 2017 If you go into the hair salon, they do sell hair products. However, often times they are low on supplies. Have even found hair spray in the gift shop- but again it is hit or miss. I would strongly urge you to bring everything you need with you as drug store type items can be three times what you pay at home, on or off the ship at the ports. This is especially true for sun block.
Newbcruiser1 Posted October 23, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted October 23, 2017 Thank you to both of you! I checked all of the shops and no hairspray. Finally went up to the salon and all they had was extra firm and it was $22 (plus tax)... wasn't willing to splurge - with the Canadian exchange rate and Spanish VAT tax that's like $35! Doubtful that I'll be able to easily find any in the Canary Islands, particularly as I'll be short on time with tours booked. Ah well! Straight hair for the next 2 weeks! Cruise a holic Posted October 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2017 I am sure if you ask a fellow cruiser- one with teased hair- she will let you borrow a spritz or two before you get to a port that does sell hairspray. You actually may be able to get in the Canary islands near the dockyard. Enjoy
Grandma Dazzles Posted October 23, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 23, 2017 Haven't looked recently, but on some ships toiletries are sold behind the cash register in the liquor store. Try asking your cabin steward - they can usually pretty much come up with anything! Nice tip, of course!

Gran Canaria has a big modern mall right as you leave the port area, Tenerife you are also in the town although a bit further to walk from the ship. If you have a spare hour in either you will easily find a shop that sells it. Julie
mafig Posted October 23, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 23, 2017 Hairspray is one of the first items I pack. Then I usually check a couple of times to make sure it's still there.:o Good luck in finding some.

Newbcruiser1 Posted October 23, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted October 23, 2017 Thanks everyone! Great ideas here! One of my tablemates has some that I can borrow, but I will still try to track some down in port so I don't have to bug her frequently! Haha! We're going to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and La Palma. Where exactly is the mall in Gran Canaria? I suppose I can wait another few days! This is the first time I have ever forgotten something on a cruise! :( Sent from my iPhone using Forums

It is over on your right as you leave, if you get to the main road you have gone too far. There are usually lots of crew heading there. It's called Centro Comercial El Muelle if you want to google it for a map. There is a Hiperdino supermarket on the ground floor that would sell hairspray. Newbcruiser1 Posted October 27, 2017 Author #17 Share Posted October 27, 2017 Update! A fellow cruise passenger found a can of "laca" (Spanish for hairspray!) for me in Tenerife! And I did easily find the mall today in Gran Canaria and they had it as well! Thanks for all of your help! OCruisers Posted October 28, 2017 #18 Share Posted October 28, 2017 Actually, the hair spray I needed to buy at the beauty salon on Princess wasn't terribly expensive -- less than $15 and it was good. :)

Cruise a holic Posted October 28, 2017 #20 Share Posted October 28, 2017 Actually, the hair spray I needed to buy at the beauty salon on Princess wasn't terribly expensive -- less than $15 and it was good. :) Honestly, If I really needed and wanted the hairspray, I would pay the price up to what I felt was my limit. I see people play in the Casino and lose hundreds of dollars, so if I paid $35 for hairspray on vacation- so be it!!
JMG Posted October 28, 2017 #21 Share Posted October 28, 2017 I purchase the small travel cans of hair spray and keep them in my travel toiletry bag. Never forget to pack it. This does not help you now but...possibly for future trips.
