Just off the Anthem - thoughts

Thank you for the quick review! Quick question - are the fridges in the rooms able to be emptied and filled with water/soda?

Been offline for a bit so apologies for the late response. The fridge in our room was empty (no mini bar item) and no 'for fee' water in the room either. We stocked the fridge with water.

Really good honest review - not just a moan-fest like some! Can I ask what you didn't like about Celebrity?

I love RCI and Celebrity - perhaps leaning more to Celebrity nowadays, but on Allure this weekend. Just interested.

Glad you liked the review! What we really liked about celebrity - dining in Blu, service was a little better than RCCL (cabin stewards always seemed to be there), and geared towards couples more so than families (mind you, we were pretty happy with the Solarium area on Anthem and would do that again - while there were a lot of children on Anthem they've managed to set up areas/activities that suit everyone's tastes). What we didn't like about Celebrity - the entertainment is nowhere near the calibre of Royal. For comparisons, Anthem versus Reflection (our last X cruise), had much more in terms of evening shows, the performers just seemed better, and there was much more entertainment in the lounges.

If they could merge the best of both lines I think I would never get off the ship!

We, too, just returned from Anthem. First time on this size ship and probably the last time. It was really just too big and crowded.

But I do agree that it is a beautiful ship with great entertainment. The adult solarium is restful and less hectic. The indoor family pool was always loud and crowded. I can't imagine what it would be like during a holiday cruise!

Loved Chops and Wonderland. We ate My time dining and the service and food was very good. The Wind Jammer was too crowded and we only ate lunch 1 time there. We tried to eat dinner there 1 night and it was awful. Since it was Halloween we thought that we would have a quick meal - there were NO tables available!

Johnny rockets on Anthem was so very disappointing - it was more like a MacDonald's.

We had a wonderful room steward - Ritzey on deck 7.

The music Venues had outstanding musicians! We usually spent time at the Schooner Bar each night.

The Casino was less smokey on Anthem than other ships!

The Diamond Lounge was very crowded each night and often no where to sit. We would go to the Consierge Lounge - but at the Back of the ship the walk was too long and difficult down the narrow halls for my husband with a cane.

Anthem is not our "cup of tea", but we still had a wonderful time;)

What time did the Annthem dock @ Cape Canaveral? Was it 7am?

thanks.

We were on the Anthem recently and echo the disappointment at the crowds at the windjammer. Most annoying was the constant announcements to “eat and get out so others can have your table”. Down right rude.

Our Spectra show in two70 was cancelled 3 times and virtual concert cancelled due to technology failures. The robotic bar was closed more than open with technicians constantly recalibrating the robots. Voom Internet did not go vroom (well over subscribed with the ship continuing to sell packages when the system was already over capacity).

I think it depends on the itinerary. For the 7 day Bayonne-Port Canaveral-Coco Cay-Nassau-Bayonne we were on it arrived in Port Canaveral at noon and departed at 9:00 pm. Not nearly enough time to go to Orlando or visit Kennedy Space Centre.

We were docked at 6 am. People were leaving the ship by 7. We were very impressed at how easy it was to leave the ship, get a porter to take our luggage through custom and to the garage, pay for parking, and load up. Bayonne has a great system and would advice anyone to drive to the terminal and park.

oops! I did Not read that you wanted the time for Port Canaveral. We docked at Noon and returned to ship by 9 pm.

We talked to a few people who went to Disney and said they would not do it again. It was just too hurry up and wait.

We stayed on board ship this day to enjoy a bit of Peace and Quiet! Were able to see a rocket that was launched!

I was just on the same cruise with my family. My children (all in their twenties) felt that the cruise was geared to an older crowd. No music at poolside, absentee cruise director, requests for current and were told multiple times that the music was unavailable. At the Halloween party, they were told by the DJ that he had to stick to a playlist provided by the cruise director staff.
