Best wishes Jill on your upcoming move!

Agree that Mother's Day has become too commercial. I am happy with a phone call. I do fondly remember hand-made "art" pieces that came home with my kids when they were in elementary school. Happy Mother's Day to all who contributed to the life of a child!

Newbie Silversea cruiser here, hoping for insights into the Silversea experience (We will be on the Shadow). Had a few questions, and hoping that this thread is an appropriate forum.

Aside from room service, which apparently starts at 6:00, is there another place where one can get a nice soy latte early in the morning? (Our usual routine is that DW is sleeping in while I wander about the ship sipping my latte).

We are in a veranda suite, and wonder whether in-suite dinning is served on a roll-in table, or whether there is a traditional-height table in our suite?

Many thanks!

Hi, I have only sailed with SS once (going on my 2nd cruise with them in July:D).......hoping someone else

can help you with more detailed answers. I had a regular veranda cabin last year........I was on Spirit. I never

ate dinner in my cabin but I don't remember a "traditional-height" table. You mean like a dining room table?

Can't remember "early areas" for coffee.....I always ate breakfast in La Terraza or in the main dining room.

I would say maybe post your questions on its own thread.:)...(so they don't get overlooked on here).

Anyway, hope you both have a great cruise:)

Good Morning Team .....

What a talented bunch Coolers are! Lovely to read of the Roberto tributes. I agree with you Cams. Lunch should start at 12:00 with an extremely dry and long voddy Noily dry martini and lunch should finish at about 5 so they can get laid up for evening service. :D

Notjaded - a big welcome to the Cooler and a very lovely newly upholstered stool has been placed at the bar with your name on it. From recall the coffee table in a verandah suite I think elevates and magics into a bigger table but a more recent sailor will guide.

Eurovision was a great view this year and as usual the countries voting was political and the people's vote was a contrary view. I thought the Lithuanian entry was lovely and the Isreal entry just weird. In fact many were weird.

The Cyprus entry was sung by an Albanian living in Athens, Go figure and the song appears to be about a pelican. I've posted the official words below followed by the Italian entry which I think had the prize for the weirdest lyrics.:)

Notjaded, typically in-room dining is served on the table that's already in the cabin. It's coffee table sized. Sometimes they slip a larger tabletop over it, so it's easier to fit dinner service, as the coffee table is small.

There is usually an early riser's breakfast (we think) at 6 or 6:30, and one of the bars should be open at that time. They make espresso and other specialty coffees to order. I'm not sure if they have soy milk but I'd imagine it's a common enough thing. Maybe when you fill out your pre-cruise information, request it just to be safe.

Enjoy your cruise, and do feel free to ask other questions.

Welcome notjaded! As JP posted there is a square table top which fits over the top of coffee table in front of the sofa. Here is a picture from our Veranda Suite on the Whisper (sister ship to the Shadow).

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for the kind responses to my first "Water Cooler" question about coffee and in-suite dining. One further question: For what purpose do posters use this thread, vs creating another one? Many thanks.

Hi.

You could easily start a new thread and there is no reason not to. I have copied below the original reason for the Cooler in it's first thread some years ago. We're on Part 4 because the previous ones have had too much activity and slows the whole system down..

Clearly some of the threads have moved so far off-topic from the OPs original intentions that there is a clear need for a place for people to post where they do not irritate others and can proceed to discuss only those things that are severely unimportant and are the square root of nothing in particular. This use to be something very popular over in SB and and seems to be something that needs to fill a vacuum here so, and Host Dan agrees. And as a non-recovering OT recidivist he has agreed I should open it.

I guess that in order to ensure this doesn't make Host Dan's life even more problematic we remind ourselves that ALL CC guidelines apply but with the exception that things can be both on and off topic. I'd also like to add a rider for this thread. I personally try to be poster-blind. I try to read each post on it's merits. I'd like this thread to be a place for everyone to banter on anything they wish and the topic either floats or sinks on the interest it generates. I'd also like old perceived slights and scores to be set-aside. I'd like to see the only rule is that anything can be posted that if you were reasonably imaginative and generous it's appropriate. I'd also like to offer the suggestion that everyone should be offered the benefit of the doubt. If you don't like a post then either ignore it, or report it. Don't say you don't like it. Anyway – I have no authority – I just want to start a congenial thread which people simply enjoy with minimal risk of nastiness. Host Dan can if he wants dump all the rubbish form other threads here if he thinks appropriate.

So where do we start.

Guess where I am?

ps. apologies for tappawhalla ipad issues

Thanks for the Eurovision reports, ML & Jeff. Now, I ask, in Eleni's song, doesn't "what you see is what you get" remind you of "garbage in garbage out"? The first time I heard of Eurovision was in the late 60's...Mireille Mathieu won...those were times!!!!

Greetings All....

Sakaara, so very sorry to hear of your loss.....very hard times, thoughts with you and your family.

Welcome notjaded......in suite dining can be so lovely and relaxing......remember you can request off menu via your butler for anything you fancy ...curry dishes seem to be popular.

The Panorama lounge usually opens at 6am for the early risers offering pastries and drinks....either help yourself or waiter service... but as JP said, do check on the soy and pre request if necessary.

Jeff...what a great find...whilst clearing out Fathers stuff I’ve found a load of old bottles of cognac unopened...not quite sure what to do with them at the moment!

M...are you ever going to get some decent weather....thanks for the continued funnies!

Gardener called in again this morning having purchased three beautiful willowstone pots for me for just £35 from the local car boot sale...a bargain...tomorrow he’ll fill them with begonias.....love my garden!

Happy Sunday 😊

Sorry, sakaara. You are in our thoughts. Nearly 14 years here. And my grandmother (her mother) passed last May so now I have nobody to call on this day.

Notjaded, this is a thread to talk about anything you want. And we do!

Busy day planned. I painted the entryway/mudroom yesterday (just one coat) so I have to put a second one down today. And change the snow tires on my car; I guess it's time. And maybe open the pool. And do a water change in the aquarium. And maybe some spring cleaning? I'm tired just thinking about it. Off to the market for groceries now.

Same sentiments as above, being sent from here.....Mom passed away in 2009 and I think of her and miss her everyday.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there....

Have to giggle about Miss Sophia's gardener......That would be me....haha!

Last night was the local 4H kids calf sale. Although we don't have any livestock (other than Snitchy) we're surrounded by dairy farms and our daughter was part of all of the farm families around us. It was fun to see some of the stock the kids were selling....beautiful animals with impeccable pedigrees. Even tho tempted, I didn't bring anything home in the back seat or trunk to suprise John. I think he was happy about that!

Welcome to notjaded.....you're gonna love it here! There's room next to my stool....!!!!

Here is an interesting perspective on Mother's Day.

https://peacealliance.org/history-of-mothers-day-as-a-day-of-peace-julia-ward-howe/

"In 1870 — nearly 40 years before it became an official U.S. holiday in 1914 — social justice advocate Julia Ward Howe issued her inspired Mother’s Day Proclamation, which called upon mothers of all nationalities to band together to promote the “amicable settlement of international questions, the great and general interests of peace.” She envisioned a day of solemn council where women from all over the world could meet to discuss the means whereby to achieve world peace.

Julia Ward Howe was a prominent American abolitionist, feminist, poet, and the author of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” "

I prefer this to the rampant commercialism that seems to have taken over the day.

Thanks J! I enjoyed Clarkson! But what is a second city?

And I identify with the author of article number 2! I am the one who is rabid to get to the airport hours before departure. Myster goes along with my "madness" because after 40 years he knows resistance is futile. :)
