Wishing on a star Posted November 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2017 We usually do later dining, so we are never rushed. But, we are considering early Traditional Dining on the Regal. We tend to keep an early schedule, and on a Winter cruise, the sun goes down anyhow. What times do they usually actually have the two Early Traditional Dining onboard? Should we suck-it-up and cut our day short to do the very earliest dining time, and dine in the dining room off the Piazza. This would avoid going so far AFT. (Want a cabin forward of mid-ship) Is getting a 'good' seat in the Theater (or other venues) an issue if one does the standard Early Traditional? Would Dining at the earliest time help with this? Thanks for any insight or experience!
cruzrbachoua Posted November 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2017 Normally it was 6pm for early then they moved it to have 2 times 5:30 pm and 6 pm....but on our last cruise we just did on the Crown out of Quebec they had just 1 early and it was at 5:15 pm. Hope this helps. We usually go to the shows and only once for Magic to do did we show up and were told no seats available...are the seats we get always ideal seats..no but we can usually find seats for 2 when we arrive after early dining. If you pick traditional you don't get to pick your dining room they will assign it to you and it could very well be the aft one. If you want to make sure you get the dining room that is more mid ship than you can do anytime dining...but then again you wont know til you board what dining rooms they are using for what. Not sure if they switch it up but usually anytime doesn't dine in the same dining room as traditional...but we have always done traditional early...but on the patters I see where it shows which dining rooms offer which dining and usually traditional is in 1 room and anytime the other. skynight Posted November 9, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2017 Very early: most likely 5:30 Early: most likely 6:00 Shows are usually at 8:00 or 8:15 and 10:00. Sometimes, when there is a deck party, there is an early show at 7:00pm. For the 8:00pm production shows arrive about 30 mins early for a nice selection of seats. For guest entertainers you don't have to show up that early, maybe 20 mins early. There are also shows in the Vista Lounge at different times, usually singers, musicians or comics. If you are seated at a large table, 8 or 10 it could take two hours plus to dine thus making it difficult to make an 8pm show if you dine at 6pm. At smaller tables 6 and under it generally takes less time. In ATD it is generally easy to get seated (except on boarding day) if you show up at 5:30pm or earlier. ATD provides the flexibility to plan your dining around your choice of evening events rather then the reverse.
skf Posted November 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2017 Half-hour early is usually good. Sometimes there is a special port show such as Russian Folkloric which you may find crowded. The Princess Theaters in general have "Not a bad seat in the house." Steve
easyboy Posted November 9, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 9, 2017 When we were on the Regal, Early Dining at Concerto was 5:30 and it was 5:45 at Allegro. You can get a preferred seat at Princess Theater if you arrive around 45 minutes before the show. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
USCcruisecrazy Posted November 9, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 9, 2017 I read somewhere that depending on the dining schedule determined for early dining, the late dining could be affected. We are currently scheduled for 8:15 on the Crown. Is there a chance they make that earlier if they don't have 2 seatings for the "early" diners? cb at sea Posted November 9, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 9, 2017 You are unlikely to have to rush back to the ship...especially when it gets dark earlier.....And considering you have to be on the ship 30 mins. prior to sail away, you'll have plenty of time! coupeb Posted November 10, 2017 #10 Share Posted November 10, 2017 We were on the Crown out of Quebec as well, and our early traditional dining time was 5:30.
