OBC from TA

Am I correct in thinking that OBC received from a TA is refundable? If so is there any way of accessing this as cash while on board to use in port for example? I’m not a gambler so know nothing about the casino, but I have read other threads where people talk about taking cash out from the casino.

If it is truly from your TA, then it's refundable.

However....there have been some TA's that claim that they are giving an OBC when it's really Celebrity (so that wouldn't be refundable) ...and yes, some OBC's are "joint" deals between the TA and Celebrity. I seem to recall some Amex offer that turned out to be a hidden joint deal....

Sometimes what you see isn't what you get. Make sure your TA puts that the obc is from them...in writing.

The OBC I received from my TA has always been refundable (i.e., shows as OBCR on my account). However, on one of my recent sailings, my TA was giving me $300 OBC and it showed up as $250 OBCR and $50 OBCN (non-refundable). When I saw my onboard account showing the non-refundable credit, I emailed my TA and she told me that the $50 was from a consortium that she belong to and, yes, it was non-refundable.

I've booked many cruises through this TA and this was the only time I saw a portion as non-refundable. Every cruise before this one and after this one always had a totally refundable credit.

So, in answer to your question: Usually it's always refundable......but not always!

I've only gotten OBC-R returned as cash on the last day also. My TAs OBC has usually been refundable sometimes and sometimes not. I've always asked them before I go which it will be, and have been told it's non-refundable. On my last cruise, I had OBC from X and the TA. It was half and half, so I'm not quite sure who the refundable was from. At any rate, X always uses the non-refundable first and anything left is either refunded to your credit card or you can get it in cash the last morning before you disembark if you wish.
