My first ship was Millennium back in 2000 - I know you must have a special place in your heart for Infinity. I am really pleased with the ship but especially the crew. We have had no less than impeccable service thought the ship.

I am sure you are going to enjoy the cruise.

This is our first visit to South America and so far on the repositioning cruise I am amazed by my ignorance of the geography of the north west coast. I never realized that the coastal area is some of the driest deserts in the world. I had a mental picture of lush green jungle.

I have also been surprised by the friendliness of the people.

I am more excited about the send half of this cruise.

Today is turn around day. We were off the ship by 9:00am and saw people already arriving.

We have a private tour today. Because of the holiday the guide recommended touring in San Antonio area. The park we visited first reminded me of Carmel and Monterey.

Great to see photos of San Antonio - the “replacement” port of Valparaiso. Your start point (or re-start point) is our end point.

Thank you for sharing your incredible journey thus far and as your next leg is ours in 2 weeks time; will be watching for more incredible stories and photos.

Thanks for the photos and live updates..how’s the weather?

The weather has been much cooler than anticipated. Lima which is quite far north was 60-70 F.

San Antonio - We were told by our tour guide that it is under the influence of the Humbolt Current which is very cold. It reminds me of June - July in August. About 61 F for arrival with lover overcast (marine layer). The marine layer burns of around noon and warms to about 68 F. Santiago is inland and had a temperature of 85 today.

Thanks Keather - It has been an incredible journey so far. I'm glad we didn't gave to get off the cruise in San Antonio - The next portion of the trip is going to be so totally different from the first 1/2 of our cruise.

The B2B was incredibly easy. We received a IN-TRANSIT PASS last evening. I arranged for a private tour today and the MC Concierge was very helpful in escorting us to the gangway to avoid having to get on line. Upon return we were given our new seapass and proceed back aboard.

The only small glitch was our seapass indicated Classic Drink Package even though we had Premium as a perk. Once back at Michael's Club Pricilla fixed it for us.

The weather was a chilly 60 degree when we got off the ship at 9:00 AM and only raised along the coast to a cool 67-68 F after the marine layer burned off.

Our guide was excellent.

Due to the holiday traffic we decided to stay in San Antonio region and have a luncheon at a nice ocean front restaurant.

I ate too much---

We returned to she ship at 3:30 and Muster Drill was held at 4:30. I suspect they will have a makeup session for later arriving gusts as our muster was only about 1/2 full.

We depart tonight at 9:00 PM

Sunday - Dec 10

Puerto Montt

Arrived early to Puerto Montt. This is a tender port.

We are going ashore early to do a little shopping prior to our excursion. We booked this through Celebrity as we have $550 non-refundable OBC.

Temps are projected 52-68 F. We have an early morning marine layer and hoping to be able to see the Volcano.

Now between Puerto Montt 41 ° 28'00 "S 72 ° 56'00" W and the next stop Punta Arenas 53 ° 09'00 "S 70 ° 55'00" O. There will be a wonderful scenery through the Chilean fjords and the strait of Magallanes.

Jim how is the weather? a cold spring?

We have begun part 2 of our cruise. The demographics have changed quite a bit. It appears there are a lot of South American guests and the average age has dropped by 20-30 years.

Are there any children onboard? We are sailing the Antarctica route in a few weeks and I am guessing my kids will be the only two onboard, so I am just curious[emoji3]

The temperatures have been generally cooler than expected but as you know can shift quickly. Puerto Montt was cool in the morning at about 52 on arrival. We donned our sweat shirts and puffer jackets and was pleasant. We took a walk to look around for a couple hours before our tour and the puffers were off within 30 minutes. Later in the days the tempers were up to about 75 and I was down to my T-Shirt.

While at sea the winds have been strong and the temperatures in the 50's and 60's and getting colder as we head south.

For packing I would definitely go for the layered look.
