halperin123 Posted November 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2017 Can any one comment on the reliability/speed of the internet on these ships or specifically freedom of the seas? I would like to work while on the ship but i need a fairly solid connection. I have been on a ship before, dont remember if it was NCL, 6 years ago and the wifi in the room was barely good enough for web browsing. thanks! Freedom is equipped with the faster O3b service, so it's as good as it gets via satellite.
sea shepherd Posted November 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2017 Had no problems staying connected and watching tv on freedom in March on the WiFi. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
klfrodo Posted November 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2017 Does your work intranet require you to log onto a VPN when working remotely? If so, plan on working in the 150 - 200 kbps range with a long latency timeframe. No VPN requirement? Plan on a 400 - 500 kbps download speed and about a 65 - 100 kbps upload speed

If you are willing to work when everyone is not (at say 3 AM) you have a very good chance at a stable connection. Any other time, don't count on it to work flawlessly.
