Mr. Click Posted December 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Yes you can make a cash deposit when you check in. If your cash deposit runs out they will ask you to make another deposit.

Tonsoffun44 Posted December 4, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 4, 2017 It's one of the options when setting up your information online instead of putting credit card it has "cash account" as a choice. How much their minimum deposit is I don't know. Most lines we've been on required $250-300 per person an said as much on their websites, celebrity site doesn't mention it at all. MEcruzr Posted December 5, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2017 I often put a cc on my account but will pay my onboard bill in cash on the last day/evening. That way there's no charge to my card.
NantahalaCruiser Posted December 5, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 5, 2017 I prefer CC since I get 2% back.
varoo Posted December 6, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 6, 2017 I prefer CC since I get 2% back. The same for us. But getting the 2% back is just a nice extra bonus. Our main reason for using a CC is to avoid needing to bring a lot of cash that could be lost or stolen.
upwarduk Posted December 6, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 6, 2017 I often put a cc on my account but will pay my onboard bill in cash on the last day/evening. That way there's no charge to my card. I have a Post Office C.C which doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee. Paying in cash is a no-no for me as the on board currency is $, so I would need to convert from £ as I live in UK. Just too much hassle.
Kitekat Posted December 6, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 6, 2017 One way to have cash in your on board account is to buy On Board Credit (OBC) through Gifts by Celebrity to load your account with dollars prior to starting your cruise. Anyone can do this although, if you are not in the US it is worth checking the exchange rate before purchasing. You buy OBC in blocks of $25 - it can be cheaper to us a credit card which often has the best exchange rate.
Rare keesar Posted December 6, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 6, 2017 I have a couple of plastic cards. One card uses wholesale money conversion rates and has 0% currency fee. The other uses "retail" rates and charges 3%. So check the terms of your cards.
north29 Posted December 6, 2017 #11 Share Posted December 6, 2017 I virtually use a CC or (debit card for abroad travel), for most every thing, any where home or travel abroad. I keep cash for small purchases or where CC are not accepted.

Sure but is it refundable if you don't use it all, putting down cash you'll get the unused portion back.
