Can you consider OBC like a discount off your cruise. So for instance if your cruise was $1000 and you have $200 in OBC that would be like your paying less because OBC can be used like cash?

You can look at it however you want but you cannot apply your OBC against cruise fare balance owed.

Sort of, but only if you were going to spend that $200 onboard anyhow.

Of course I know that. But OBC is a great way for that Drink Of The Day, Shore Excursion or special item in the shops that you would normally not purchase at home.

 

We never had 1 cent remaining as we use up all our OBC!

Of course. You need to look at all discounts and perks and subtract any you'll use from the cost to determine the "bottom line." You'll spend $200 on board just for tips for 2 on a 7 night cruise.

Not all OBC is refundable. I think OBC coming from a TA is, but not OBC coming from Royal directly.

Refundable OBC you would get as a credit to your credit card or as cash from guest services.
