Any thoughts on using the La Concha Renaissance for a pre-cruise hotel?

Hi,

 

I have a cruise out of San Juan in April and am considering flying in a day before departure. The last time I cruised out of San Juan we flew the day of the cruise and wound up with a 5-hour delay out of PHL. I think we were some of the last people to board the ship. It was not a very relaxing way to start out. My TA said RCL suggested the La Concha, and yet their website (under cruise extensions) only mentions the Sheraton Old San Juan. Either seem to get good reviews. Any thoughts?

I like La Concha and it’s area. Lots of restos, casino, beach... it’s more “hip” ;)

Another vote for LC, but if wanting the essence of OSJ, then El Convento

we have used la concha five times for pre-cruise and like the hotel's vibe and little nooks out and about the property where you can feel secluded. the area has many local restaurants within walking distance. we are booked in pre-cruise again for this february.

Walked by there yesterday, they were working on the patio area out by the beach. Staying there tomorrow. Great area. Check out a small restaurant across the street called Pinky’s for breakfast.

My company is using the Renaissance La Concha for our trips to San Juan while the Caribe Hilton is refurbished after the hurricane. Highly recommend this property.

We did the La Concha pre-cruise last February. Would recommend it highly and Pinky's even more highly. The $6 breakfast burrito will feed 2, easily.
