Mcrosby57 Posted December 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2017 I’m sure this has been asked and discussed over and over but I’m running short on time as I’m packing now to leave or the hotel for the night. Our plane leaves or LA at 6:45 AM. My question: What is the hairdryer like in the rooms? We are on the Baja Deck at the back of the boat. I can throw in my own hairdryer if the one provided is wimpy or is the kind you have to hold the button to keep it on. Quick answers are appreciated. We are trying this out and if we like cruising, we want to do one of the longer Baltic cruises in the summer of 2019. Thanks, in advance for the help!!! MTJSR Posted December 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2017 Have a great time! I think the provided blow dryer (above the desk area) works just fine, I wouldn't pack one. But when you meet the Captain, please don't call the ship a boat, He/she started out on boats and worked their way up to ships. :D
Liz54 Posted December 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2017 The driers are fine for short hair, for long, they are a bit weak
Potstech Posted December 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2017 Being bald hair dryers are not an issue for me but have a great cruise while enjoying yourself.
skynight Posted December 22, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2017 Each cabin has a hair dryer by the desk area. It is good if you have shorter hair. If you have long thicker hair it may take some time to dry.
sunsetbeachgal Posted December 22, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 22, 2017 I would bring my own hairdryer! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Sacto Rick Posted December 22, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2017 They are a little weak but they still work. Just takes a little more time. Not worth dragging yours along unless you have plenty of extra space in your luggage. We usually have the space going but coming back is another story.. avonlady6390 Posted December 22, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 22, 2017 I believe you have to hold down the button for it to work also it is attached in drawer.

floridalover5623 Posted December 22, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 22, 2017 The dryers on the Ruby are stronger than ons the newer ships. They're still weak in comparison to the home units & take me forever to dry my underwear.

JF - retired RRT Posted December 22, 2017 #12 Share Posted December 22, 2017 I believe you have to hold down the button for it to work also it is attached in drawer. On the Pacific, it's in the bathroom. No button to hold. Very weak. On the Royal class, the dry may be in the drawer, but never seen any posts about having to hold the button. On all other ships, it's hanging on the wall above the desk. No button to hold. This has been my experience on 10 different ships. YMMV

Mcrosby57 Posted December 22, 2017 Author #15 Share Posted December 22, 2017 Thanks for all the quick replies! I’m not packing my dryer. I’ll get by with what they give us. I’m not a daily hair washer, anyway, so for a couple days, not worth it. I’ll throw in my flat iron and touch up, if needed on most days.

yags Posted December 22, 2017 #17 Share Posted December 22, 2017 I have short hair and the drier is fine. Long hair might be a different story.
cruise4kicks Posted December 25, 2017 #18 Share Posted December 25, 2017 Too late to help the OP, but thought I'd throw in my 2-cents' worth: Just off the Ruby 12/23. This is the FIRST time in all my cruises I wished I'd brought my own blowdryer. And I have short hair. The provided blowdryer was REALLY wimpy.
