CruisingNole Posted December 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2017 Good. I feel sorry for the employees that have to deal with cruisers who don't tip extra. If you're a couple, being waited on hand and foot, $27 a day is simply not enough money. Think of what you'd tip on a nice dinner anywhere else, and then think of all you get on a cruise throughout the course of one day. Personally, I usually pay the $189 auto-grat on a 7 day cruise, and then tip about the same amount in additional cash.
OBX-Cruisers Posted December 27, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2017 My wife ALWAYS tells our cabin steward and waiters to come and live with us. Good. CatDad2012 Posted December 27, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2017 I just received an email from my Cruise Specialist that Royal Caribbean will be increasing the daily gratuities for 2018. Standard accommodations will increase from $13.50/day to $14.50/day and suite guests will increase from $16.50/day to $17.50/day. You can pay any gratuities prior to December 30, 2017 and still get the lower rate. I know it is only a few dollars, but every little bit counts. Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted December 27, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 27, 2017 Yes, been on that other board a little bit but couldn't cope with the ridiculous people who are complaining of paying an extra dollar a day, really?!:')
FirstTeacher Posted December 27, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 27, 2017 One question though: I have booked a cruise for 2018 and added the gratuities to my bill. However, I have not yet made the final payment. Is it possible that they’ll increase my bill to reflect the increased gratuities? However, I have not yet made the final payment. Is it possible that they’ll increase my bill to reflect the increased gratuities? The email I got indicated that you would be "grandfathered in" if you had already pre-paid gratuities. "If you've already prepaid your gratuities or prepay them before you set sail, you will not be charged any additional automatic daily gratuities once on board. Royal has said that they will honor the current price of the gratuities as long as it's added you your invoice before Jan 1. It does not have to be paid, unless your cruise is already beyond final payment date.
