heliwoman Posted December 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2017 Not sure if this is the proper spot to ask this question: Has anyone been on a NCL cruise to the Baltics and if so do you recall if there was an ATM machine on board? If there was what currency did it dispense? Given the # of currencies involved with that particular route I was wondering which it would dispense: Euros? Kroner? Rubles? (Doubtful) Thanks! CruiserBruce Posted December 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2017 I would ask on the NCL board. If the ship has an ATM, it has it all the time, not just in the Baltic.
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 30, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2017 As usual, CruiserBruce has it right and this link will take you to the NCL Board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=107 Keith
Rare fabnfortysomething Posted December 30, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2017 I have sometimes seen an ATM in the casino area but rates will be horrible[and dollars as that is on board currency] ATMs will be easy to find in port towns and even in pier area which will dispense in local currency be wary that you don't use one which charges you an extra fee to use[will be a warning before you finalise] look for one linked to a bank network
heliwoman Posted December 30, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted December 30, 2017 Thanks - I had initially searched the NCL forum but didn't see anything so I thought I would post here. I was just curious on it given the # of currencies involved with a Baltic Sea Cruise.
ljandgb Posted December 30, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2017 Most places took credit cards, including street vendors. Cash was mandatory for a few public restrooms (coins) and one hot dog cart. Scandinavia in particular is trending towards cashless, and I ate at one popular restaurant in Amsterdam that stated up front "no cash."
Giantfan13 Posted December 30, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 30, 2017 I don't know about an ATM. I believe all ships have an ATM on them, but I really don't think they would dispense the currency of whichever port you were going to. That would mean they change it basically every day which is highly unlikely. When we traveled the Baltics, you were able to exchange money at the custom services desk, but the rates were extremely high. It would be much easier to just hit an ATM as soon as you disembark the ship in whichever port you are in. Cheers Len BTW-- We are sailing on the Breakaway this Friday so I can answer your question better in a couple of weeks.
