Abroad when cruise tickets are due to arrive!

We will be touring Canada for 2 weeks before we board our Princess Line cruise from Vancouver. For the last 5 days before the cruise we will be in the wilderness with no internet or phone access.

Our tour agent says "tickets will be emailed to you 7 - 10 days prior to departure which will need to be printed".

I am assuming this is because they do not get the final information from Princess Line until just before the cruise, even though we will have paid in full 3 months earlier.

We are going to have very limited access to printing facilities (only what quite basic hotels are willing to do for us), so has anyone else had this problem and how much do we really need to print out?

What about luggage labels? Can you pick these up at the port, or have these to also be printed out?

Thanks for your help, Art

Something sounds fishy :(. If your reservation exists in the Princess computer system you can simply log on to Princess.com and other "Booked Guests" you can pull up your reservation as long as you have a valid Princess Reservation Number. From that site you can print-out any necessary documents. In addition, if you simply create your own account on Princess.com...you would always be able to quickly find (and print out) any future bookings.

Your final cruise documents should be available on the Princess.com site soon after you have made your final payment....or about 60-75 days before your cruise. You would not normally be mailed at "ticket" but would simply print-out a short form of which the first page is all you need to get in the cruise terminal and check-in for the cruise.

Just a thought - if the OP is booked in a Guarantee Cabin is the paperwork available as far out as some have said or could it be

even a case of not getting any until you board.

Some cruise lines say you can pick up luggage labels when you are cleared for boarding and you just write in your cabin number.

If you do know your cabin number just write out your own labels

before you go, remember your passports and visas (if needed)

and print off whatever you have confirming your booking and payment and take that with you.

Tell your "cruise agent" to get his act together. Having made final payment three months in advance, he has plenty of time to get you what you need well before you head into the wilderness.

OP called him/her a Tour Agent ????

Could be that this cruise is part of a Tour set up by the Agency ?

Ok, so lets talk about Princess and their guarantee program (which we often use). Nearly all the time, you will get a cabin assignment about a week to 10 days before your cruise...but sometimes you may not have an assignment until about 3 days before....and very rarely not have an assignment until you get to the pier (this happened to us once....a few years ago). But you can still go online and print out your necessary cruise documents (which will simply show you have a category Guarantee). If you can get your cabin number in time to put on a luggage tag...that is great. If not, simply go to the port with all your documents (and no cabin assignment). Once you get to the port, DO NOT Let the porters take your luggage, but simply tell them you need luggage tags and your cabin assignment. They will get a supervisor who will have the cabin assignments, tag your luggage, and then you are good to go inside and check-in. There are some frequent cruisers who swear that a last second cabin assignment is a good omen that you will get a nice upgrade....but in our case that did not happen (only got a small upgrade).

On our most recent Princess cruise (Regal in late October) we did not get our cabin assignment until 5 days before the cruise.
