eyoreblu Posted January 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2018 We are booked for the June 2nd sailing out of NYC. Can anyone tell me exactly where the port is and possible hotels to stay at near there? We have so little time in NYC but want to do the tourist stuff to see as much as we can see. Thanks in advance! For example, do you wish to each pull a 22" rollerboard with sturdy wheels for 5 to 10 city blocks between hotels in the "immediate" area and the cruise terminal, or will require a taxi for that 25" or 27" spinners, carry-on bags and extras ... or, stay on the other side of the Hudson River & hop on the commuter rail or ferry and then walk a few blocks, etc. Details shared will give local CC'ers a better idea of how, what & where to steer you. Happy & careful planning with your choices will lead to a better trip & cruise experience overall. Edited January 13, 2018 by mking8288
FLJIM Posted February 9, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2018 We are staying at Holiday Inn Express on West 48th. I believe it is near the Comfort Inn. Same cruise. We have a room for Fri night before the cruise and one for Saturday after the cruise. Taking the train home Sunday.
mjkacmom Posted February 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2018 Decide what you want to see and then find a hotel in that location. The hotels by the port aren’t by anything else.

Rare mking8288 Posted February 9, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 9, 2018 You aren't offering up Villa Del MKing as an option?Oooooh, not from our corners ... besides, Villa De, is down in Mexico and OP (it seemed) sailing north to NE/Canada this June, course/headings a bit different. Or, are you are thinking of the 2BR Garden Villa or 3BR Villa on the ship. Saw a YT video of the Joy's Garden Villa #18500 - nice looking with forward wraparound balcony. For in-town lodging, the Hyatt Place not too far from LGA airport and us ... has a great view of Manhattan's skyline & a rooftop bar - dining option, pretty cool ... somewhat pricey but it is popular. Too far for the average tourists aiming for the middle of Times Square.
padams2017 Posted February 10, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 10, 2018 For tourist stuff, I recommend staying in Times Square. June will be great weather to get out and walk around the city or a quick cab to Central Park. Marriott Marquis is my favorite.
Brandi7240 Posted February 10, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 10, 2018 F.Y.I.....for those of you who are 62 yrs. old and considering a hotel stay in NYC, be advised, Hyatt will offer a 50% senior discount with a reservation for two and Marriott will offer a 15% senior discount. Rare BirdTravels Posted February 10, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 10, 2018 FWIW, we agree with PAdams. We stay on Times Square which is within easy walking distance of many midtown sites. Yup, it cost [a lot] more money, but it is all part of vacation expenses. (We actually usually use hotel points to save on the [a lot] of money).
