"Drill Down Pricing" - learned something new on CC

So this morning when I checked the current pricing on our upcoming cruise in March, I went thru the complete process of picking a room. At that step, the price for an interior was $ 70 less , than the 'advertised' price on the page before you actually picked room type and specific room. Past final deposit, and our price is still less, and with prepaid grats, so we're all good.

 

Still may not have gone that far without reading about it on CC

What I hate is when Princess sends an e-blast with cruises on "sale" with the starting prices for each category and you start looking for a cabin in a particular category and all of the prices are HIGHER than reflected in the e-mail. I get that it may be a teaser rate for a few cabins in that category but it's still a wee bit frustrating when you get psyched for a cruise based on the rates shown in the e-mail.

Yes, I've received emails like that from Princess many times. I've yet to see the advertised price available when you drill down.

I wonder if that could be considered false advertising?

Have you signed into the Princess site before pricing? I priced out a cruise a few days ago, then did the sign in. After the sign in, I got a message about the page refreshing, and the price was $200 pp less after the refreshing.

That happened to me when I was considering one cruise, that at first sight, looked too expensive for us. I mentioned it on a CC thread and someone suggested clicking on the cabin. When I did the price was around AU $2000 less. Yes, I do mean $2000. I booked it immediately. I think the original price may have been a mistake as it did come down later.

I go all the way to cabin selection when checking prices because I've seen it lower than what the front page is shows. I guess they want you to work for that price check.

I've had that happen with some of the casino offers. Sometimes you see the higher price on the initial screens and the lower price doesn't appear until you get to the point of actually selecting a cabin. I don't know if it's intentional or a programming glitch. It used to be that the casino discounts were baked into the prices shown on the initial screen.
