Griller Posted January 23, 2018 #27 Share Posted January 23, 2018 What type of gift card? Walmart mostly since that's where many of the crew head off to when in port.

If you’ve kept your auto gratuities on why a gift card and not cash. Only time a gift card would benefit the crew member is if you’ve removed the tips. caribill Posted January 23, 2018 #29 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Tips are pooled fleet wide, as it states on the Princess website Which is the exact opposite of what the staff member in charge of payroll on a Princess ship told me. She said all gratuities collected for a cruise stay with that ship.
CruiseGal999 Posted January 23, 2018 #30 Share Posted January 23, 2018 How does the person I tip at the moment of service know if I have my automatic tips ( which I always do) covered? I've been told and I've seen posted here that the workers are given a list of guests who have removed the auto grats once it's done. So when they receive cash tips, they turn it over to the tip pool. In the old days we used to hand out phone cards as well, you'd see them by the banks of payphones at the pier, now of course the crew all have cellphones,
