kapok kid Posted February 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Just booked our first river cruise with Viking. Although their terms of business say 90 days prior to sailing for final payment, they are insisting on 200 days prior now because of us getting their air offer with a paid upgrade. JMorris271 Posted February 26, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Which cruise trip did you book?
kapok kid Posted February 26, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Read their fine print again. I did. They leave themselves some wiggle room, but 200 days? No way. We fly out from ewr on October 17, and they want final on April 1st. Sent from my iPad using Forums
6rugrats Posted February 26, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2018 I believe this is a common complaint about Viking. Did you know there was a River Cruising forum on CC? Ask Viking questions there: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
wheezedr Posted February 26, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Viking is notorious for having an early final closing date. 6 months is generally the best you can do unless you wait to book late. Then you run the risk of your preferred date being sold out.
suspaul Posted February 26, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Unfortunately, this is a thorn in our side also, nearly all other cruise lines require final payment 60-90 days out of sail date but Viking, no. We have done many river cruises and several ocean cruises with Viking and it is their standard for payment, IF you use a travel agent sometimes they can get an extension but not always. We like to book early to get what cabins we want, even if you have a cruise booked in 2019 or 2020, final payment is not long after the initial booking. Rare Keith1010 Posted February 26, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2018 I see you are new to Cruise Critic. I would be posting this on the river cruise board at: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=191 Keith
