vmacchirol Posted March 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Anyone know why the Celebrity Eclipse left Port of St Maarteen and now holding up in the St Maarten Anchorage? Talex831 Posted March 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Yesterday the Equinox and Jewel of the Seas kept their props running all day due to wind and ocean currents. Possibly a continuing issue today? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
vmacchirol Posted March 7, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted March 7, 2018 But They started today at the dock and now they moved to the Anchorage seems odd Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cltnccruisers Posted March 7, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2018 I've read that occasionally that have to sync up the nav systems with gps and have to hold position for that. No idea how long it would take.
Jeremiah1212 Posted March 7, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2018 (edited) You can see her off in the distance on the webcam. Not sure this is uncommon though. We did nearly the exact same thing on Silhouette last month. We sat nearly still until past sunset (which was gorgeous!) Edit - going back and looking at my sunset photos I took, we sat for nearly an hour. Edited March 7, 2018 by Jeremiah1212

gerelmx Posted March 7, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 7, 2018 I have seen in the marine traffic, several cruises stops, at different ANCH ports.
MEcruzr Posted March 7, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Probably to save fuel... if they have a short jaunt to the next port.
GottaKnowWhen Posted March 8, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 8, 2018 Sorry I need to lose the long Signature Sent from my iPhone using Forums True that. But if you go in and edit your sig, you should be able to have most of the list fall below the line as mine does. When posting from my desktop, I often choose the “show sig” option. Minor frustration with this app is that there is no such option (at least one that I have found.)

chamima Posted March 8, 2018 #13 Share Posted March 8, 2018 We were just on the Eclipse and did that a few times. Sometimes Captain Leo said it was to wait out weather but usually it was because the next port was so close that we had no where to go. He was very good about making announcements so I'm pretty sure that the passengers know what's going on. (The timing of your post (5:25 pm) coincides with the 5:00 sail away time for St. Maarten)

raymar63 Posted March 8, 2018 #15 Share Posted March 8, 2018 Presently on the Eclipse. No problem at all. Just stalling because of such a short distance to today’s port of Antigua. Fantastic cruise! Great crowd, entertainment and food has been excellent.

Great crowd, entertainment and food has been excellent. Have you been to the World Class Bar? If not do yourself a favor and stop by there! Say hi Nikolai and Marius from Karen and Allan. Also make sure you listen to the Passion Duo. Really talented pair of young people!
blueboro Posted March 9, 2018 #17 Share Posted March 9, 2018 We are on the 2nd day of our overnight in St Maarten on Reflection. Ships in port have been rocking more than I have ever experienced in port. Winds don’t seem extremely high though. Yesterday we were told Allure OTS cancelled the port due to seas. FYI, having a great time on Reflection. Service and MDR food very good and entertainment has been better than some X cruises.
