cb at sea Posted March 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Long pants and closed shoes for men, for dinner. Women can get away with strappy sandals/heels, etc. "Flip flops" are rubber/plastic" and not appropriate for dinner in the dining room. Sandals of leather or canvas...maybe...although most men's feet are quite unappetizing...wear loafers or "deck shoes"...something easy to slip on and off. pacruise804 Posted March 9, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Are men allowed to wear nice/dress shorts or even dressier flip flops (not pool ones!) Thanks ! Sorry, no shorts or sandals at dinner for guys Sent from my iPhone using Forums It depends on the line. I'm not sure about Royal - it's been a few years since we sailed with them - but I thought my husband wore cargo shorts to non-formal nights. Dress shorts would have been allowed on our recent Carnival (cruise casual nights), but he wore dress pants with polo. NCL allows nicer shorts too - at least in some of the dining rooms. chefchick Posted April 3, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 3, 2018 Go to your cruise line’s website and see what they say about their dress code. Many do not allow shorts in the MDR for dinner, but some do. It’s always easier to get facts from the source than advice from a random board. Enjoy your cruise
ger_77 Posted April 3, 2018 #8 Share Posted April 3, 2018 Here's a link to Royal Caribbean's dress code page. It states that shorts are welcomed for breakfast and lunch. By not stating dinner, it would mean (at least to me) that shorts are not welcomed for gentlemen in the main dining room for dinner. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/generic-onboard-dress-code Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)
