Viking Sun World Cruise Christening Debacle

If Wagnerite’s information on the other thread is accurate -

about American crew not being allowed off the ship, then this sounds like something political going on.

Hagen may have been trapped between the proverbial rock and hard place.

Still, just pay careful attention to how Viking responds.

Did Viking ever place a response in print?

Viking’s chairman Torstein Hagen introduced a new multi-channel ‘Did you know?’ brand advertising campaign.

Aimed at travel agents and the company’s target audience of experienced travellers aged 55 and older,

the campaign highlights Viking’s industry differentiators, including its inclusive value with a shore excursion included in every port.

“We have always been a travel company that focuses on exploration and cultural immersion,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking. “In the last two decades we have led the industry in river cruising, and as we become the leading small ship ocean cruise line we have an opportunity to introduce many new travellers to the Viking way of exploration.

Our new ‘Did You Know?’ campaign https://www.vikingcruises.com/oceans/why-viking/did-you-know.html

is aimed at inspiring people who may not yet know what makes us so different in the industry,

why we are the most award-winning cruise line and how we can provide more included value than any other cruise company.”

I'm sure this is not going to be a popular response but I am going to give it anyway:

I would not expect them to. It is not a publicly traded business and not answerable to any stockholders. Hence, they are not obligated to explain or justify their actions with a public statement. Viking has not yet indulged in public mea culpas and I honestly don't expect them to now; it is not part of their business culture.

Viking sent a representative to the ship to sincerely apologize for the poor execution of a great idea....what more could we want.

Like the great FROZEN character belts out in song...''LET IT GO, LET IT GO"

It was an amazing four months!!!
