mrsgibs179 Posted March 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2018 I am new to cruising and have no idea what clothes to take on a world cruise. Some of the pictures look like the attire is very casual . Any suggestions are appreciated.

SPacificbound Posted March 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2018 Here is a link to the Roll Calls for Regent. Find your ship and sail date if you have already booked. If you haven't booked yet you can still read through threads and ask questions. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 17, 2018 I would do three things. First is to note will you be on one segment of the World Cruise or the entire World Cruise. Second post on the Regent Cruise Line Board at : https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=176 Also for other World Cruise questions I would post on the World Cruise Board. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=833 Keith
shipgeeks Posted March 17, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2018 I would recommend posting your question on the Cruise Fashion and Beauty section, as well. Lots of good info there.
Rare wishIweretravelling Posted March 17, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2018 Since you're being sent to a lot of other forums (all of which I think you would find informative and I agree with the others in recommending you visit), I thought I'd answer you here. I've spent a lot of nights on Regent, so am familiar with the attire there. During the day, pretty much any attire goes (except no bathrobes or swimsuits in the public spaces other than the pool area and going to and from). After 6 pm, the dress becomes "elegant casual" which generally means no jeans or shorts, and a step or two above what you'd wear during the day. On segments of longer than 14 days, there will be at least one optional formal night. You don't have to dress up, but a lot of people do, particularly on the world cruise. If something is called a "gala" evening, you will feel out of place if you are not dressed up. This doesn't mean gown or tux, but it does mean "cocktail attire" for the women and suits (or at least a tie and jacket) for the men.

Floridiana Posted March 22, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 22, 2018 You didn't ask this, but are you sure you want to start cruising on a world cruise? No getting your feet wet on a shorter Regent cruise first?
mrsgibs179 Posted March 22, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted March 22, 2018 Well that probably would have been a good idea but we just decided to go for it. I do appreciate what you are saying though. Kathy
