LongHill44 Posted March 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 18, 2018 Will they have to show their cards each time they go get soda? And are their soda fountains they can use or will it have to be poured by Carnival staff?
firemanbobswife Posted March 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 18, 2018 They will go to a bar and give them their card. Carnival does not have self serve fountains.
salty dingo Posted March 18, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 18, 2018 Yep, they can get a glass of soda for showing their card... but they have to get the bartender's attention first :D
schazzy Posted March 18, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2018 Any bar, they show their card, I think they do this for inventory purposes. It also works in the MDR, a bar service server will bring it. Also, it may depend on the bartender, but we saw a few make "special"soda drinks for the kids with BB, like Shirley Temples, juice drinks, and some kind of blue drink with cherries in it, I don't know what it was, but the kids appeared to love it. carnival kid Posted March 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 18, 2018 My granddaughter got all sorts of fancy drinks when we were on the pride shes really not fond of pop Sent from my VS501 using Forums mobile app
Rare kctwinmommy Posted March 19, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 19, 2018 Yep! Same as above. However, after our first night in the MDR, we never had to show our cards again. Some people complain about having to go to the bars to get it, but I've never had problems (I don't drink alcohol and get the BB) nor has our son. teknoge3k Posted March 19, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 19, 2018 Also remember, if they're only drinking soda, you can take your own soda on board with you and save money. That way you can keep it in your fridge in your cabin to keep it cold and you'll have whatever kind of soda you like and not be limited to the ships few choices. xDisconnections Posted March 19, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 19, 2018 Yep, they can get a glass of soda for showing their card... but they have to get the bartender's attention first :D They also need some luck in getting a bartender who is willing to serve them promptly. Many bartenders will take care of everyone else first, even those who arrive after the kids, simply because there is little chance of getting an additional gratuity from the kids versus the included service charge of an alcoholic drink ordered by the glass. lukeduke07 Posted March 19, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 19, 2018 Yep, they can get a glass of soda for showing their card... but they have to get the bartender's attention first :D This is harder than you think. My daughters kept complaining that the bartenders would ignore them most of the time.
wemjam Posted March 19, 2018 #13 Share Posted March 19, 2018 They can get both soda and juices with their soda card. They have pineapple, cranberry, etc. that is included with the bubbles package and they will add "syrups" like cherry to sprite for a Shirley Temple. They are allowed one pop every 5 minutes (yes the system keeps track of the time)... so if they get one and try to right back and get another it will make them wait. Also, your picture does pop up when you get it and they will check. My husband actually gets this for himself because he drinks pop. I went to get him one at lunch one day while he was waiting for his sandwich and they would not give it to me (I don't even drink pop), and another time recently he spilled his when he sat down and went back to get another and they told him that he had to wait 5 minutes between drinks... so they do crack down on these rules. As far as getting service, even adults can wait at the bar at times, the best thing to do is try to find one that isn't as busy. The main lobby bar and casino bar tend to be the worst.... but often the lido buffet has one in the back (depending on the ship) and this one tends to be less busy. Also, again depending on the ship, there are two by the pool area and they tend to turn people over quicker. Just tell them to be polite, but firm and "raise their card and nod" at the bartender and say I need a drink, please. Worst case, tell them to ask the "adult" next to them if they would please ask the waiter for help as they seem to be being ignored. Most adults I know would be glad to help a polite child needing help.
2016USAHoliday Posted March 19, 2018 #14 Share Posted March 19, 2018 Yep, they can get a glass of soda for showing their card... but they have to get the bartender's attention first :D We unintentionally found an easy way around this. Our daughters have learnt how to say thank you in every language/nationality we see on the ship. Staff remember them and serve them straight away!!! If it's Indonesia they ask for their drink all in Indonesian. It also got to the stage that the bar staff in the theatre would have the drink ready before we even sat down!
