Project Runway?

That was a lot of work, but I think puts things in better perspective...

That being said...

All four will show at Fashion Week, and therefore end up working and doing well.

Now, first of all the entire reason that they had invented and "set up" the idea that anyone who won a challenge before could come back at this challenge...

In the previous seasons, there were people that got eliminated that were talented, but due to one week's mis-step were Auf'd...

Think Austin from Season 1 and Nick from Season 2...

So, they were setting it up, in case that happened, this would mix things up, be interesting, and give them another chance...

(Think from the past seasons though, if Austin, or Nick had come back, they could have won the challenge)

(This season though, it was a good/interesting idea, except the people who had won challenges and were Auf'd - Keith if he had not broken the rules, was eligible to come back, and could have won the challenge; Angela - this was just stupid, she only won because of Michael and especially Laura, but she did well on the Audrey Hepburn dress, so in the longest of all of the longest shots, could have pulled it out...

All she did was prove once again, that she only won her challenge, because of Michael and Laura...

Vincent - Again, actually, could have in a long shot won the challenge and stayed in...But again, it wasn't even close and his design choices proved again that he doesn't deserve to be in the final four...)

Now, here are my thoughts for final three...

It's all going to depend on "the challenge" and who steps up, or who mis-steps...

Michael, unless he so completely FUBARs this final design, where it is SO BAD that they can't let him through, is through to final Three and if he doesn't win, then he is second, and he has a HUGE career ahead of him anyway...

Laura, if she can listen to and "branch out" to her sophisticated, but younger and more modern, then she is in, and I fully expect her to be in final three...

I don't think she will WIN.

The thing is that the producers want to get as many people as they can with exposure and opportunities, and Laura already has TONS of money.

She does not need ANY of the prizes or the money. She was just looking for exposure, and validation to make a career change.

Regardless, she has been validated, and has enough money to start her own line and career at this point, so she will not win...

She has already acheived what she needed from this show...

Jeffrey, he has also raised his profile...

But again, if he manages a collection, where he is still orignal Rock and Roll, but more sophisticated, or showing that he can do other things (without pulling back so much that he becomes conservative like Santino did on his final show), and balance that correctly...

He wins or he's second...

Either way again, it just raises his profile, and he will work and do very well...

Uli, It's all going to depend on if she steps out of making the exact same/similar dress all the time. Yes, she is great with prints, but I think it's either going to be her out, or Laura (which I don't think) for the final three.

Again, regardless, Uli, will have work and a good career after this...

It all depends on what they do this upcoming week, and for their collections...

I was thrilled that Laura won. Her dress was lovely and showed that she can do other looks. Micheal's dress was a close second - and not as great as Laura's, so I agree with the judges.

Jeffrey's was just horrible. Cheap looking and not the "tongue 'n cheek" he was aiming for. The models legs looked like sausages, the dress silhouette was simply ugly - their was nothing good about it.

I guess I'm the only one that liked Vincent's dress. I liked it alot. The problem was that his fit model had an accident so he had to use a larger model at the last minute so it was waaay too short and bursting at the seams. Also, the fabric guy gave him too much so he was stuck making an ugly cape that he did not care to make. But the dress itself, IMHO was very pretty. If he had time to remake it in the right size, it would have worked.

I thought Kayne's dress looked like it came from a cheap store and not up to his skill level. Or perhaps he simply can't make a cocktail dress?

I'm not down on Uli and her "one look" or on Laura's either. Both are masters of what they do. Many many designers have "signatures". All Mary McFadden gowns have Fortuny pleats and when Carolina Herrera started out 20 years ago, all her dress sleeves had a "dimpled shoulder". Vera Wang has only clean lines and I can't ever remember seeing her do a print or a ruffle. And a Chanel suit is recognizable by just about everyone who knows even just a little about fashion.

Angela is simply not a clothing designer. She's a crafts person and should stick to crafty "right from the farm" looks.

I agree with you on all your points. Kayne deserved to be out - I didn't even like the front of it like the judges did.

I also think that Uli has gotten a pretty bad rap for her signature style - whatever she makes looks really cool, easy and fresh.

I really liked Laura's dress this time - she really did need the pressure to take the age level down a notch. I would buy her cocktail dress in a heartbeat.

I also liked Vincent's dress- especially the details and contrast upclose. It should have been longer - but he did have a disadvantage because of his model. Even longer, I would not have liked it better than Lauras.

I tend to dislike just about everything Jeffrey makes - and his seems to be very signature as well. His rubber leggings were awful - and the dress itself seemed to be made of cheap, fading prints. He was lucky to have stayed. I preferred Kayne's to his by far.

It's hard to know who will win. Uli seems to be unfazed by any challenge. I think I am rooting for her.

Curt Jerome Wild, Thanks for posting the pictures. The only designer I see from all those pics that can do different things and is diverse is Michael. All of Laura's dress look the same and so do Uli's. I love how they both design but Michael is able to get out of his comfort zone and I think that is what you look for in a designer.

Thank you CJW for putting the pics up. That certainly shows us the body of work. I am in love with Laura's stuff. Maybe it's because I am in my forties and her clothes speak to me. I noticed she really popped out there quick with her pregnancy. She must be VERY tiny, a size 0 or so. She looks tired. I cannot imagine going through another pregnancy right now (Laura and I are the same age and both have all boys. I am tired).

Jeffrey: His attitude is so nasty that I cannot get past it and look at his clothes. I will not spend money on someone I perceive is so horrible that they do not deserve it. For example I will never watch another Tom Cruise movie as long as I live. I don't care what he does.

Uli: Much better than they are giving her credit for being.

Michael: Lovely work. His tailoring skills do not match Laura's, but she's immaculate.

Kayne. Brilliant with what he does, pageant dresses. Not so hot with other stuff. Time to go.

CJW... hey there! Thanks for taking the time to post all the pics, it really does give you an overview.

I thought I would add my thought here..

Heidi Klum.... "Bee-atch"

I am sorry, I know I read constantly what a nice person she is... I do not buy it at all.

A truly "nice " person could not talk down to, humiliate and rip people the way she does... just to make them kiss her, and then collect a paycheck for it.

I believe she also produces the show... in the credits I saw it.

Nope. I do not like her at all.

Jeffrey: His attitude is so nasty that I cannot get past it and look at his clothes. I will not spend money on someone I perceive is so horrible that they do not deserve it. For example I will never watch another Tom Cruise movie as long as I live. I don't care what he does.

I could NOT agree more... he exudes hatred it seems.I would not give $.02 for that exact reason as well.

As far as a designer... he is ok, I guess.... It is hard because I would NOT wear one thing he has designed, myself... and I agree... I am jaded b/c of his attitude. I do not wish sucess on people who do not seem to give back.

I DO ,however, give him credit for becoming clean... major credit.

Just too bad this is what was left, he was probably a nicer person wasted.Sorry...

Laura, I give her major kahunas and kudos!!

Switching careers like that, five boys... and NOW pregnantagain?

Good LORDY!

I especially loved this dress:

310_Laura_lrg.jpg

Just thought it was soooo feminine and I loved the way it hung and moved, detailing.

I too, thought they ripped her a new one w/o being consistent with the criticism.

Kayne,

I was actually a little disappointed to see him go.NOT because of his designing really, but there was just something humbling about him.... he seemed like a good seed? I dunno....

Actually I also loved the fabric for the dress he designed for that pageant girl, I can't recall her name... I NOT a pageant girl.

(I really liked some of the colors he chose for his formalwear, not necessarily the design). This one in particular I liked:

Kayne_Robert302.jpg

Funny, I think I may be the only one who liked this dress?

309_Kayne_lrg.jpg

I liked the colors and layers....Not crazy about the bodice though.

Uli, I have no problem either with her use of the same dress protype, if you will. Jane is correct:

I'm not down on Uli and her "one look" or on Laura's either. Both are masters of what they do. Many many designers have "signatures". All Mary McFadden gowns have Fortuny pleats and when Carolina Herrera started out 20 years ago, all her dress sleeves had a "dimpled shoulder". My though throughout exactly. Her fabrics flow beautifully, they are so feminine. I like her necklines.... I would NEVER be able to wear them, but I find them very feminine.

My favorite had to be this:

309_Uli_lrg.jpg

Gos, I LOVED the fabric here, colors and design.I would be willing to get a breast reduction to wear this dress!! ( As long as they put them back afterwards...(NO, BTW ...I do NOT have implants!)

Michael, he is a nice guy... but not my style at all.He seems like a great designer, becuae he is consistent, it seems and I think he has a shot at winning. I like him because he has always seemed genuine... but this is not a popularity contest, I realize!

I, personally could NOT be happier Angela is again "OUT!"

OMI-GAWD....I could not wait for that moment!

Whiney, manipulative, no talent at all, unprofessional.

Again, I will quote Jane, as it sums it up completely:

Angela is simply not a clothing designer. She's a crafts person and should stick to crafty "right from the farm" looks

Thank you.....

The dolile thingies... her ideas....her patchwork flair...

It gave me the He-bee-gee-bees!!

Now that she is gone, I feel like you do after your whole house is cleaned and free of clutter...cleansed and relaxed!!

Ahhhhhh....

Finally, Tim Gunn...

What can I say other than he makes the show and I look forward to him.

Another "good egg".

n

Well, back to the daily grind.... I am cleaning house myself!!

Hi Heather:)

I was meaning the same thing when I said I realize they need

all different personalities to make the show work.

But it (in my opinion) doesn't hurt to be a nice person;) And I

honestly think Michael is nice:)

And we will probably never know if Jeffrey is as "dark sided" as

he appears to be or not.

But I also would never wear anything he designed either:eek:

not my style too.

Oh Curt, I also want to thank you for posting all the photos:)

That was very kind of you.

I don't like Jeffrey or his designs and after the way he treated Angelas mother I like him even less and less. I hope he doesn't win! I still can't get over the way he treated her! He needs to learn some RESPECT!

I'm curious how much of Jeffrey's "behavior" is actually editing or intentional acting up for good television. His attitude towards Angela's mother was clearly not acceptable (at least the way it was shown on TV), but I think I read somewhere that he is actually a nice person in real life.

Not defending him in any way...just a little cynical about reality television. As for his designs, I think he's got a unique take on fashion. It would be very unfortunate if the opportunity was wasted either due to editing or his own self-sabotage.

CJW- I echo everyone else's thanks for posting the pics and for sharing your insider insight. What a delight for us fashion industry-wanna-bes!

On another topic, can one of you in the industry specialists please recommend a solid brand for well-made trousers (for women) which are cut well and can be worn in multiple seasons? I am thinking something along the lines of Calvin Klein but maybe more affordable...though I know a good pair of slacks will pay for itself in wear.

Thanks in advance!

Seeing the season's efforts so far really changed my perspective.

Michael isn't just good, he's divine.

Laura is more diversified than my memory allowed. That cute garbage dress was a delight and had a sense of humor.

I can see the "bringing people back who won challenges." There have been people who were thrown off for one disaster but had an overall good body of work in seasons past.

Poor Vincent! I know I'm in the minority here, but I think he's funny and his styles are interesting, if retro. I suspect he would do much better ina real world environment.

I'll miss the beautiful Kayne.

Yes, I'm glad that I did that and that it worked out...

I'm very visual, so I wanted to see their entire season all lined up together.

Laura was actually more diversified than it seemed.

But now, guessing from what I've seen of the collections from Fashion Week that showed today (I'll try and post those like I did the other's here in this thread, but won't have time until next week)...

In the meantime, you can check them out here:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=413539

(Thanks BlueHerons!)

I'm totally guessing that Laura gets Auf'd next week, and the final three are Michael, Jeffrey, and Uli.

Also don't forget that at www.bravotv.com you can vote for your favorite designer, and that person will get $10,000 and some prize for being the audience favorite.

Which I think is a great idea.

Anyway, we'll see.

Blue Herons,

No, didn't make it. I ran into a friend who runs the "7th on 6th" shows and completely forgot that she worked there....AARRGH! I asked her the day before the show and she looked at me like I was crazy. She said if I had given her a weeks notice....... (oh well). I went to another few shows and it's so crazy inside the tents that it's just fine I didn't make it.

Nope. I do not like her at all.

I agree on some of your points. I don't mind the honest criticism of the designs that she or the other judges give. But I do hate her "let them eat cake" attitude - like when she told them that they've all had it so easy so far and the next challenge was finally going to be a difficult one. Puleeze.....her beauty has given her a life of wealth, ease and privilege while the hopeful contestants have put their lives on the line for this. Don't tell how easy it's been for them. That's just so condescending.

And I've also mentioned before about the kissing goodbye. Who the heck wants to have to kiss the person that just fired you? Geez!!

Laura, I give her major kahunas and kudos!!

Switching careers like that, five boys... and NOW pregnantagain?

Good LORDY!

I agree.

I also find it interesting that many of the people here criticize her for not varying her look or not making young-enough looks. Then in other posts they complain that all the things in the store are only sleeveless, for the very young and too wild looking.

I like her styles alot and I like when a designer has a signature look because they build on that signature. If Uli gets her own line (I'm sure she will) and you went to the store to buy one of her dresses, wouldn't people be disappointed if she made a grey pinstriped suit?

Yes of course designers expand - Yves St. Laurent had/tons of looks - but his signature will always be the black smoking jacket, womens' tuxedo and other tailored looks.

Funny, I think I may be the only one who liked this dress?

309_Kayne_lrg.jpg

I liked the colors and layers....Not crazy about the bodice though.

I too loved this dress. I'd buy it in a NY minute. And I liked the bodice.

The judges agreed with you, they liked the colors and layers, they didn't like the bodice.

Oh boy has this show made him a celebrity!!!! NO ONE doesn't love him!

Ding Ding Ding....I smell a Red Carpet guest appearance!!! I smell book deal! I smell guest editor columns in the big magazines!

Well, back to the daily grind.... I am cleaning house myself!!

Oh puleeze June Cleaver - you're probably doing it in high heels and sequins!

Note to Curt - Thanks so much for uploading the images so we could see everyone's collection. That was great.

I just LOVE Tim Gunn! What a calming presence he is. BTW, he did the Red Carpet for one of the networks for the Emmy's with Billy Bush.

The show would have a totally different vibe without Tim Gunn.

(Side note - SO not my type, but she is so great and cute on the show, and such a great personality, I'd totally go out with her - after I go out with Chloe the winner from Season 2, then Nazri - Michael's model, that apprently Uli got or "stoled" according to what we see next week - Oh yeah, then after that it's Robert's sister - CUTE!- alright enough CJW hetrosexual comments, back to the fashions...)
