We are on the MSC Seaside in a couple of weeks and docking in Nassau on 25th May. My wife and I would very much like to have a wander around the Atlantic Hotel to see if we want to stay there for a few days in the future. We are not interested in the water park or beaches on this occasion. Any guidance on how best to achieve this would be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi there. I haven't been to Nassau in a couple of years, but the last time I was there I went to Atlantis. It's a very short walk from port, or you can easily find a cab for just a couple of dollars. You'll be able to walk around the grounds and the casino, and you'll be able to see the pool and water park. You just won't be able to access the latter two without purchasing a day pass. When I was there the beach was free to access, but I'm not sure if that has changed. You should be able to see enough to determine whether or not you'd like to come back for a land-based visit. You could also try phoning Atlantis ahead of time to let them know you'll be there, tell them you're interested in staying, and ask for a tour. (I'm not sure if they do that sort of thing, but it couldn't hurt.) Perhaps they even have a "future bookings" consultant onsite, sort of like they have on cruises.

It is quite a hike to walk to the Atlantis from the pier. There are both regular taxi service and water taxis readily available at the pier for a very nominal fee. While there we played a little in the casino , ate a lovely lunch, visited the Dig (their underwater museum ) and asked for a room tour. They said depending on their current capacity they may or not be able to show us a room , but in less than 10 minutes we were on a mini tour. The grounds are amazing even if you are not using the water park area. Definitely a must see !

We take a cab.

Took the water taxi a few times, but will not do it again.

First you are packed in like sardines. If you get there when the boat is relatively empty you'll wait till it get full...and I mean full. Then you not dropped off right at the hotel (like with the taxi), but have to walk a few blocks to get there .... in the heat ..... up hill if I remember correctly,

I can second this... DO NOT take the water taxi. The wait is long. The drop off location is not near the entrance. A taxi is infinitely easier.

Yes, We go twice a year and Atlantis resort is a good place for photo op's even if you are not interested in beaches, pool etc: When you get off the ship just find a taxi. There are tons of them out front and they will take you to Atlantis. When you are ready to go back to the ship, cabs are out front of the resort, and the valet will hail you the cab. Cost is $5.00 per person each way. If you want to go to the aquarium called the "digs" (not all that impressive in comparison to anything in the US), but if you want to go the cost is $49.00. No need for an excursion. You can see Atlantis from the ship. Just a five minute over the bridge ride and you are there.

Taxi. It's most definitely not a short walk from the port - you have to go quite a ways and then cross over a bridge, and then it's still a bit of a ways. You can also do a water taxi, but I think a regular taxi would be better. If you have time and like the beach, when you're done at Atlantis, go next door to the public Cabbage Beach area for some water and sun time. It's a beautiful fun free beach.

I walked up a hill and down through a tunnel. It was also used by vehicles so smelled of exhaust fumes in tunnel. Take a taxi as it is the same price as the water taxi. I think it was $4 per person each way. Also the taxi drops you right at the front of the entrance to atlantis casino. Water taxi if i remember was about a 15 min walk to atlantis.
