Age of ships? Looking for 5 newest ones

I am considering doing a Carnival cruise. Besides Breeze (which we've been on) and the newest Horizon, what at the names of some of the newest ships for Carnival? Or one that has recently gone into dry dock.

We have sailed old and new ships, the itinerary is our focus when booking. Is there something on a newer ship we missed maybe?? :):) Again, just curious??:confused:

We sail old and new. We have booked cruise on Horizon just to experience the Havana area, it's something you can't get on older ships. That said, we've had fun on older ships, just off the Miracle. But ships past their prime and lacking recent dry dock are sometimes a gamble.

All of Carnival's ships go into dry dock pretty frequently and I think all, or almost all have the 2.0 upgrades. There are plenty of ships to consider, like Sunshine, that have many bells and whistles, that even some of the other ships don't have - like Jiji's, Havana bar etc. I find the easiest thing to do it look where I want to go, look at the ships that make those runs, and then run a comparison of features on the Carnival website. That comparison gives you size, passenger capacity, and breaks down item for item what each ship has.

We were on one of the last cruises on Holiday before Carnival unloaded it. There were several issues we found on the ship, but really found problems with plumbing. You know it's bad water coming out of the pipe when you pour yourself a glass and let it set for a few minutes and see sediment on the bottom of the glass. Carnival provided us bottle water for the cruise in our cabin. But the tea and lemonade had a def different taste, we stuck with cans of soda.

 

There was areas that had visibly heavy rust/corrosion. Carpets looked a bit ragged, the carpet in our room was short over and inch on the side from meeting the wall. The theater drapes we're really looking tattered and the front of the stage and stage floor was very well worn looking.

 

We still enjoyed our time, try to make the best of our cruises experiences, but ship was well past it's prime.

We sail old and new. We have booked cruise on Horizon just to experience the Havana area, it's something you can't get on older ships. That said, we've had fun on older ships, just off the Miracle. But ships past their prime and lacking recent dry dock are sometimes a gamble.

We've sailed 27 cruises on 18 different ships. Miracle (Spirit class) and Fascination (Fantasy class) are my favorites. Vista is my least favorite of all.

We loved the Breeze. We usually like to wait until the inaugural season is over and then book. Hence the question of 5 most recent ships. Still mulling it all over.

The Magic certainly can't be considered an older ship. Of the 26 currently afloat, only the Horizon, Vista and Breeze are newer.

OK....I'll play. When is a ship considered old? IMHO....after 5 years, 6 maybe?:cool: Same as a car/boat/TV/cell phone etc.... Technology changes very fast these days. So do food venues.

 

25 YO ships still sail.... But, my reference was about the Magic which has the Mongolian grill. Something I haven't personally seen on newer ships. Apparently there is a version of it in the Jiji's venues.

I'm just glad that there are so many varied choices available, and not just within the Carnival line itself. The more I sail other lines, the more I appreciate the diversity. We'll be sailing MSC for the first time this fall, the brand new Seaside, after we sail the Horizon this May. MSC grabbed me with their new concept ship, low balcony pricing, and status match for loyalty perks.

 

I'm sailing a much older ship, the Carnival Miracle, only because it was a casino fare and I can now drive to that port. Otherwise, I would not have considered such an older ship. Previously sailed the Miracle 10 day to Panama (what I called a geriatric cruise) back in 2010.

We've been thinking about trying MSC. I received an email about free alcohol for the week. I like that MSC will match loyalty level from another cruise line, but I read on the site that's it's only for the first cruise. I'd love to read a report when you return.

Hmmm, that's interesting. We sailed Legend repo from Tampa, through Panama Canal, ending in Long Beach in 2014. CD told us the average age on board was 70. This cruise had the most spry, active passengers from any cruise we've sailed before or since. There were far fewer walkers, canes, and scooters than we've ever seen too.

I really enjoy reading people's opinions, especially when they are presented well.
