FLL or Miami hotel with shopping area in walking distance.

Hi everyone,

We just came back from a wonderful European cruise with NCL, but my flights were hell. The airline lost my luggage both going and coming home! What are the chances? And, my husbands brand new suitcase is ruined. So I booked a cruise out of Miami while on board for November, and need hotel advice from someone who has actually stayed at the hotel.

I am flying into FLL, probably Friday evening before the cruise. So I am thinking of staying in FLL until Sunday and taking Uber/Limo to the port. I am looking for a nice hotel with pool near shopping. I will never travel with a checked bag again, so I will need to buy sunscreen and some other items when I get to Florida. Any suggestions of your favorite FLL hotels would be greatly appreciated.

The Hyatt Place 17th Street Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale is near Harbor Shops mall that has Publix and Total Wines. The hotel is across the street from Embassy Suites and Outback Restaurant. The mall also has retail stores and restaurants (Gilbert's and Duffy's). You can reserve the Hyatt Place via Valuetrips.com. There is a Walgreens, more restaurants and retail stores within walking distance.

Try Courtyard or Hsmpton Inn Plantation. Plenty of shopping and restaurants however not near beach. When booking ask for instructions on free airport shuttle and port shuttle. I’ve stayed at several FLL hotels on the beach, 17 street and I find this location to suit all of our needs pre-cruise and is always cheaper than others mentioned. Right across from FBI so felt safe at all times.

Coincidentally, I found these due to no other affordable options as we were also going during the boat show.

This year we are sailing out of Miami so staying in Miami.

EDIT: I see you also sailing out of Miami, I think it’s a little far in that case.

Thanks for the great responses, unfortunately all of these places are booked for Nov 2-4th. So I will keep searching.

Just FYI, the International Boat Show is in Ft Lauderdale this year is Oct 31 to Nov 1.. A lot of $$ boat brokers book blocks for their $$ clients. Most rooms that week are booked up a year in advance. You can find rooms, but not near the cruise port.

Holiday Inn Port Of Miami is a 3 star perfectly adequate hotel for one night pre-cruise. Yes, a bit outdated but clean, staff has always been friendly and it's a $12 cab ride to the port. Our latest booking for a king harbor view was under $200, we pre-paid for breakfast (again adequate)in their cafe which pushed it right to $200. Bayside Marketplace is directly across the street with shopping and several restaurants with water views. Used this place quite a few times for a one nighter and never had a problem.
