tortoisegirl Posted June 2, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 2, 2018 Very cool - thanks! So how long did it take in total, and how many steps/miles?
miraflores Posted June 2, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted June 2, 2018 (edited) Very cool - thanks! So how long did it take in total, and how many steps/miles? The walk takes 30 minutes in real-time, and it's about 4200 steps...which I think works out to about 2 miles. But, it took me a while to work out the route and rehearse the walk. I walk that route twice a day, and had every movement totally worked out long before I actually shot it. I waited until a port day, when I knew the ship would be empty (and the Casino would be closed, since it's illegal to film in there when it's open), and then I walked this route 5 times with the camera to get a good enough take to use. I was exhausted by the time I finished this take, and guests were starting to come back onboard, so I knew it was just going to get harder and harder to move around the way I needed to. I did want to end the shot by going into a glass elevator (near where the shot ends), and then riding it all the way back down to Deck 2...but I couldn't get the elevators to cooperate at all. They'd either be at the bottom of the ship, the ones without glass would come, or guests would get in on every floor...which is also why I took the stairs up. I just couldn't get an elevator to take me all the way up without starting and stopping all the time, so I just walked the stairs up. There are a few places I missed, but the camera has a time limitation of 30 minutes, and some areas I'm just not allowed to go into with a camera (Adventure Ocean / Teens Centre). It's does pretty much hit every other spot though...although there are still some secret spots I didn't go to (if it was out of my way, I skipped it). miraflores Posted June 14, 2018 Author #12 Share Posted June 14, 2018 Wow! I can say though that it all being one shot really added to the effect. It took me a while to figure out the best route...and a bunch of times to get a take I liked. Didn't want to have any edits.

soremekun Posted June 14, 2018 #14 Share Posted June 14, 2018 I enjoyed it. If you could do this for a few other ships, you'd have a unique collection. Sent from my SM-G955U using Forums mobile app

Sent from my SM-G955U using Forums mobile app A good workout too...especially on a big ship like an Oasis/Allure/Harmony/Symphony. I wonder if they'll name the next one Melody...haha.
