Is OBC from RC Visa refundable?

Hi, all! I did a search and found an answer from 2016 that confirmed OBC refundable from RC Visa. But as we all know, RC changes rules often! Anyone have a more current answer?

It was refundable for us this past March.

Thanks for the updated info! We are ready to apply for the OBC, we weren't sure if we should apply the whole balance of points we have for OBC. Knowing we get the rest refunded to us helps us make the decision! Thanks again!

Technically you are taking your Visa points and converting them to cash. That cash is then used to purchase things with RCI. You can use that cash to purchase your cruise or for buying amenities or to purchase OBC. Since you are technically using cash to purchase the OBC, it will be refundable. It's no different than if you used any other credit card to purchase the OBC.

Furthermore, if RCCL changes the rules (They would never do that!!!) You can always take a cash out at the casino. You will have to pay 5%

 

(I believe) charge to do that, however, you would still get back 95% of the remaining. It has often been said that you can also go to Guest Services on the last evening and request cash out. We have always had our remaining balance OBC refunded to our credit card; no problems.

Hi. If I have the Visa or any OBC, for instance $100, can I go to casino upload that amount to my card as if I want to play at slot machine, and then cash out? This would avoid my paying the 5% correct?

You cannot "upload that amount to your card". Royal's casino machines do not take your SeaPass card for play, they only take cash or cash out tickets.

One way to avoid the 5% fee is to have a cash type onboard account. You can switch to a credit card account towards the end of the cruise, once you have gotten all the cash you need at the casino.
