Back to back cruise / change over day

Recommended Posts

I'm going on adventure of the sea end of July we have booked a back to back cruise , same cabin

We will arrive in NYC coming from Canada at the end of the 1st week

We want to do a quick helicopter flight while docked there

But concerned if we gave enough time

We arrive at 7am and have to be back on board by 13.30 fir a 3pm saying to the Bahamas

It will take approximately 45mins each way to the helicopter

Has anyone done this on RCCL

Any advice appreciated

and longer I think

Had this email off RCCL today

The morning of Debarkation/Embarkation the Consecutive Cruise guests will be asked to meet at the Guest Relations Desk or another designated area to be escorted off the ship. A meeting room has been set-up for them to spend time until customs clears the ship for general boarding. Once the ship is cleared, the guests will be escorted back on and will be given their new onboard expense card.

Now if you wish to disembark and go ashore, your will need to request this once onboard, where you will be notified of the procedure, schedules and you will probably have to go to customs once again.

You don't want to wait for the B2B group to get escorted off. You want to get off with the Self-Assist group. Just tell Guest Services this a few days before changeover day and they will arrange for you to have your new SeaPass cards either the night before or very early on changeover day.

It all depends where you were sailing from before u arrived in San Juan ?

If it was in the same country then you don't have to go through immigration I believe ?

Should not matter, you go through immigration since you've been out of the country. As I said, speak to Guest Services, they usually mention the option to leave the ship early for B2B guests. This is not that unusual.

That would be ideal

Have you done this ?

You will also be given a "in transit card" so when you are ready to come back on board you can by pass all the lines to get back in the terminal. Except you will still need to go security. Then you can walk on. Piece of cake. Go to the B2B meeting (a day or two before TAD) and ask what the procedure is at Bayonne.

two cautions. #1 self disembark, but get up EARLY and get to the front of the line, even without luggage, you will have to get in line and clear customs....You want to be near the front of the line #2 Homeland security requires passengers to be onboard 90 minutes prior to scheduled departure....you will need to confirm that this requirement applies to B2B passengers as well, it will shorten your day if it does!

When we did our B2B on the Allure, they actually volunteered the info about getting off with the Self-Assist group. We declined

Hi

Yes we do have to be back on 90 mins before , which will be 13.30 as the ship sails at 3pm

I have just received another email from Rccl

Thank you for your response.

I have personally discussed with our port authorities and you will be able to disembark early morning and be back before 1:30 pm. You must have your passport and SeaPass card to be able to board again.

You can leave your luggage in your stateroom as your 2nd sailing has the same stateroom.

I just got to get a new Sea pass card before I get off , I hope they can provide that !

You should not get off the ship without your new SeaPass card. Talk to Guest Services to make sure you understand when and where they will give you your new SeaPass card.

Yes Bob

I was thinking the same

I don't know why they have not made this a bit more simple to do

I'm sure many people do B2B

And it seems still a grey area

It is a simple process, the people on the ship will guide you.

If you talk to the customer service reps, you will be confused.

Yes. A few times but always out of San Juan. You should get a notice a couple of days prior to your TAD for all B2B (consecutive cruisers) meeting/briefing. Perfect time to ask questions. If you elect to leave the ship to do a shore excursion you will receive an in transit pass plus your new Seapass card. Just make sure to attend the TAD meeting/briefing for details concerning your TAD and Q&A secession.
