Choosing a deck

Recommended Posts

This is our first time cruise and we have no idea on how important the deck is.

Does it really matter if you take deck 3 for example, or deck 10?

Will my view on deck 3 be too "flat"?

Thank you

Good question but I think people are gonna need the ship. I always like to be higher, 11-12 but not the right under the pools. 1 below the first deck under the pools is where I typically like to be.

We always prefer to be where the deck we are on and the decks above and below us are staterooms only with no public areas. Much quieter that way. You can easily see deck plans on several different websites. For example we chose deck 7 on Adventure of the Seas and booked deck 10 on Symphony.

Look at the deck plans....try to figure out where you might spend most of your daytime hours...and try to get within 2 decks of that....makes life faster and easier if you can use the stairs, rather than waiting on elevators! You tend to come and go to your cabin much more in the daytime than in the evening.

Side of the ship really doesn't matter, so don't focus on that too much. The middle of the ship is the most "stable" if seas are rough. The ends of the ship can experience more motion if it's rough...think of a see-saw..the ends go up and down more than the middle!

If you pick a cabin on the deck immediately below the pool deck, you may experience noise from above. The staff may decide to rearrange the deck chairs at 5am.

When you pick a cabin make sure you check the deck above you.

If you tend to get sea sick, try picking a cabin in the middle of the ship and not on the higher decks.

If you have mobility problems, try finding a cabin near an elevator.

To be more specific I'm now considering Harmony of the seas and Allure of the seas

We like decks 8 and 9 on Oasis class ships. Close to the convenience of Central Park but away from pool noise.

Thank you, that helps alot.

Another aspect would be the view - do lower decks have bad views?

We've been on deck 8 and deck 12 on Oasis class ships and I cannot say there was a significant difference to us.

7 and 8 are highs, how about the lower cheaper decks like 3-4? I think 3 is the lowest possible deck on Harmony, do you even have a view?

No balconies on deck 3 or 4, just oceanview staterooms.
