wendyam76 Posted June 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2018 We have been lucky enough to visit Rome several times and with my mum being older wanted an easy day when docked in Civitavecchia. How easy is it to get into Civitavecchia from the ship? Our plan would be to have a look at the market, walk along the sea front and have lunch. Many thanks Wendy
CruiserBruce Posted June 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2018 There is a free shuttle from each ship to the main gate, which is in town. Pretty straight forward.
wendyam76 Posted June 30, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted June 30, 2018 Thank you so much - hadn't been sure if the shuttle only ran on disembarkation days. Wendy

Rare Keith1010 Posted July 1, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 1, 2018 We have made this port a port day from time to time. Your plan to just walk around is nice. We visit the large Catholic church near the port, walk towards the train station along the water, visit the outdoor market, walk the various streets and browse the local stores and you can enjoy a nice lunch and back on the ship you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon while many people are touring. euro cruiser Posted July 1, 2018 #8 Share Posted July 1, 2018 I can't say for sure but I would imagine there's no problem bringing the scooter, assuming your mother can climb up into the bus while the scooter rides in the luggage hold. They would use the same fleet of buses used for embarking/disembarking and therefore would need a luggage hold. (We did this with my aunt and her scooter all over Europe, it was easy in most places but I don't have specific experience at Civitavecchia.)
