Just off Allure...happy to answer any questions if I can

Recommended Posts

DH and I just returned on Allure today. We travelled to St Martin, San Juan and Labadee. We had an ocean view balcony on deck 8. We ate at Giovanni’s, 150 Central Park and the MDR. You all have been so helpful over the years and I’d be happy to answer any questions if I can😊

Welcome back! We are eating at Giovannis, 150 CP and Chops. How did you like Giovannies and 150? How was MDR? We are sailing with 20 family members and my family of four have three OV balconies on Deck 6 where did you spend your evenings and did you use the gym? If so, what time. What time was your flight home and what time did you get to the pier and board the ship? Thanks so so much! Sailing in two weeks and have been waiting ALL day for someone to come on and post that just returned lol. Thanks again and hope you had a great trip.

Wish I was sailing again in two weeks😊 The food at Giovanni’s and 150 Central Park was fantastic! Really loved both; don’t miss the risotto at Giovanni’s! The MDR food is fine, no one leaves hungry and the service (Roberto and Angie) really made the meal. So much so that we ate in the MDR the rest of the week. Deck 8 is our favorite on the Oasis class for the convenience of Central Park. Since we ate at 8pm we usually went to the casino or a show afterward on most nights. I did not use the gym but did walk four miles on the walking track on sea days. The views can’t be beat😉 Finally, we live in North Florida so we drive to the port. Sorry I can’t help with the flight question...

Since we have been to these ports previously, we did a bit of shopping in St Martin (they are trying very hard but evidence of the hurricane is still visible). That said, still a beautiful island and one of my favorite. On previous cruises to St Martin we have gone to Maho Beach. I grew up in the airline industry and still love the airplanes. We stayed on the ship in San Juan last since it was pouring rain but in the past we walked up, yes, the walk is a bit uphill, to El Morro. Beautiful views! There’s not a lot of time in San Juan 7am-2pm. We typically don’t do ship excursions and venture out on our own so I really can’t offer any help there😊

How long is the ship in San Juan on this itinerary? <Never mind, saw it in post 10.

Thanks for taking questions:

At embarkation (assuming Terminal 18, Port Everglades ) where did you enter on deck 5 (near what)?

How was check in at Terminal 18? We have expedited arrival, not sure what / how that works?

Did you visit the Wipe Out cafe, I think this could my 90 yo parents favorite breakfast / lunch area.

If you are Diamond level, could you get drinks between 430-8 in the MDR, Speciality Restaurants, theater?

We have the three dinner package but were they also offering any specials at the speciality restaurants?

thanks again

Missing the Allure this morning....😎

Yes, you board on deck 5 but always so excited I don’t remember exactly where....possibly by Sorrento’s?

Outside Terminal 18 was crowded. We arrived at the port around 11:30. Inside moved smoothly though. Inexplicably only one of us had the expedited arrival (not sure how that happened!) and there was some confusion about what line and where but we were onboard by noon so alls we’ll that ends well!

We did not go to Wipe-Out since we were on deck 8 and Park Cafe was just too easy😉

We are Diamond, however, we enjoyed our evening drinks in the Diamond lounge and didn’t try anywhere else. And yes, 4:30-8 nightly.

We had the two night specialty dinner package booked precruise. I am not aware of any additional offerings onboard but there could have been. Sorry, no help there...

My DD and I are sailing Sunday on the Allure with the same Eastern itinerary. We were on the Allure a year ago, just one month before the hurricanes hit. So, I am curious about the status of their recovery. St. Maarten has always been one of our favorites, too. So, I am wondering how much they have recovered. Did you get over to Marigot on the French side? I love it there. It has always seemed like a quaint little European village to me. I hope they have managed to bounce back. I understand, though, that Holland has assisted the Dutch side with recovery more than France has helped the French side. I have also heard that the local shop owners (especially in Philipsburg) follow you around more now trying to get you to buy things. I realize that they are hurting badly, but I am concerned about our safety. Thanks for any insights you can give.

We took the water taxi into town in St Martin and did some shopping. No one followed us in town or during shoppping at all. Everyone was very appreciative of us just being there. We never felt unsafe. Sorry, I can’t offer any insight as we didn’t venture over to the French side on this cruise.

Since you are Diamond, do you know if the drink coupons can be used in the dining room? (I know you dined at 8 so it was after, but maybe you know?). How about the specialties?

We had 8:00 dinner. We stopped at a bar on the way and grabbed a glass of "diamond" wine and took it with us.

I don't have any questions just yet, but we board Allure on Sunday doing the same itinerary and I cannot wait!

My DD and I are sailing with you this Sunday! We are in a GS on deck 8. I am Diamond and DD is Emerald. So, we will be using the CL and CK a good bit. Sailed Allure this same week last year in a GS on deck 9. Love this ship. Enjoy your cruise.

Our favorite deck is deck 8. It really is so convenient. Casino on 4, Promenade on 5, Boardwalk on 6 and Central Park with it’s specialty restaurants on 8. MDR is on decks 3,4,5 as well. The only time I took an elevator was up to the pool deck on 15😎
