BlueLadyBlue Posted September 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2018 Wondering where the best place is for sailaway? Wanting to watch the iconic NYC skyline, SOL etc fade away as we head out to sea. Sailed out of NYC in January on the QM2 but it was snowing so hard we couldn’t see anything so hoping second time’s the charm. :D(y):champagne-toast:
Colo Cruiser Posted September 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2018 One of our favorite spots is........ Deck 7 midships near the shops starboard side there is a door that leads outside with a nice viewing area and chairs. This side you can see the skyline and the Statue of Liberty during sailaway. Same viewing area on the Port side near Crooners. I agree also with SBG, the Horizon Court aft is another great place.
sunsetbeachgal Posted September 20, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2018 Back of the ship Horizon Terrace as you can see both sides, it is outside and covered so if weather is not good you are protected. Plus there is a bar there if you need it! [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Forums

skynight Posted September 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2018 Agree with the Horizon Terrace, deck 16 aft. The Red Hook terminal is south of Manhattan, views of the Manhattan skyline will be behind the ship. Best views for going under the Verrazano Narrows bridge will be the open deck areas on deck 17 or even the sports deck 18.

When the ship leaves the dock the skyline view will also be on the starboard side of the ship until she makes that easterly turn toward the VNB. SOL will also be visible from the starboard side for quite some time.

RLK33853 Posted September 21, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 21, 2018 If the weather holds it is a great port to sail from - the skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and the bridge. We always go to the highest point of the ship forward (by the radar balls). Although you are really not that close, it is amazing how you feel that you are almost going to brush by the bridge when you go under it.
