Casino Offer Question and Help

First, let me start by stating that my wife and I have a Premier cruise booked November 17th on the Deam. We paid full price for the cruise (the couple that did not have an offer and paid the same rate), but we know the perks we will get on board.

Second, I just got off the Freedom yesterday and received a Casino Offer. The offer has interiors beginning at $100 pp. The Nov 17th cruise we have booked looks to be about $750 cheaper. The offer is suppose to be valid for new bookings and I am 48 days away from cruising so that complicates the canceling of the cruise and booking the cheaper rate.

Any suggestions how what I can do to see if Carnival will honor the cheaper rate? My wife is a teacher and pregnant so we cannot go after Thanksgiving as she will be beyond 26 weeks. This is our last cruise for awhile!

Hi

You received an offer that has limitations. It says it is for new bookings only. So even if you weren't past final payment, you wouldn't be allowed cancel and rebook at a lower price.

You initially booked because you had an offer that suited you. You didn't know at the time that you would get a better offer later. If you could foretell the future you would be able to get more than just a casino offer. It would seem that your only option would be to book a different cruise, before the time you say you can't travel.

We have had posters that said they had free cruise offers that they were not able to take because of schedules. It's a tough problem to have. I wouldn't sweat it too much, you will likely have other offers in the future. So you missed one. :)

Thanks for the post. We will see what our friends have to say as well. I wondered if anyone had been in a similar position before and what the result was. My 11 7+ day cruises and have shown me that Carnival is great at what they do, customer service. They accommodate all sorts of guests and situations. Not asking for anything crazy here, just to see what could be done in a particular situation.

Is your current booking for November under and Early Saver rate?

On a previous cruise we had, we were booked under and Early Saver rate and got a much better casino offer for the same cruise, we were able to get it changed to the casino rate and have several hundred in OBC for the rate difference, since it was past the final payment date.

I would either submit the ES form (if that is your rate type) or call your PVP. Good luck and I hope you get the rate difference.

From what I am reading you booked under Premier. You will likely be able to rebook the new offer but you will lose the premier benefits/perks.

Um, I don't think so.

I'm on a Premier cruise (my first!) and the price for my cabin category has dropped. I called and asked if I could get an OBC and was told no, that "there is no price protection" on casino rates after final payment.

If they were to cancel the Premier at this point, its probably past the final payment and would lose their money they paid for the cruise.

Exactly. I wasn't calling you out, Kingston13, I just had recent experience --Friday-- with this exact scenario.

First, I just got off the Fantasy and got a similar offer for the $100 interior. I have 3 other cruises booked already, so I will not be able to take them up on this offer.

As others stated here, you may have to just suck it up this time and give up the offer. Sounds like the way you play in the casino, you will get other offers in the future.

But it never hurts to call or email the Ocean Players Club and ask if instead of the offer, could you get some casino cash instead for the cruise you have booked. Most they will say is no. I have tried the same in the past and they actually gave me $200 casino cash (special yellow chips that are only redeemable for play) on one of my past cruises. I have been turned down more than I have recieved, but as I said, it never hurts to ask.
