Mr&MrsCookie Posted November 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2018 Thought they were a bit expensive..and there's no free drinks package with it.

Suzi66 Posted November 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2018 Bit disappointed that almost every itinerary includes a stop in Sydney. If they didn't include Sydney when visiting NZ more stops could be included, or a Tasmanian stop instead. Sydney to NZ doesn't include Melbourne so why should Melbourne to NZ? I do really like one of the South Pacific ones though. Agree with the statement that they are very pricey though. I went as far as making a false booking to see if any perks were added, but it just then gave me a discounted price.
Rare MicCanberra Posted November 6, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 6, 2018 Prices seem high, suites get drink packages but don't need them as you get Michael's club so what is the point of that. Some nice itineraries though.

Some nice itineraries though. I know for North America, they're only showing the $300 OBC upon checkout but it can be changed to drinks by your TA. Some nice itineraries though. Saves you having to go to Michael's Club. More bars around the ship than just that one location. e.g. if you want an Orange juice at breakfast in Ocean view, who'd want to head down to Michael's club just for that? Basically if they're in a suite, they'd probably value reduced hassle against running all over the ship just to get a drink. Rare MicCanberra Posted November 7, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 7, 2018 If I was in a suite , I'd breakfast in Luminea.
Hgwells01 Posted November 7, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 7, 2018 I thought they were really expensive and noted the lack of drinks packages. Mainly all going to NZ, couple to Great Barrier Reef, one to pac islands and one Hobart and Adelaide, prices for the suites have gone up massively and I didn’t see anything that really tempted me. Sad, we have two Solstice cruises coming up and I was hoping to book something but haven’t. And yes I’d be doing Breckie in Luminae too Mic 😜

lisalila Posted November 7, 2018 #12 Share Posted November 7, 2018 I was really disappointed to see that an inside cabin on deck 3 for the Adelaide/Tassie cruise on March 15th was dearer than my midship extended balcony cabin on the Carnival Spirit next march and the Spirit cruise is 10 nights vs 8 for the Eclipse. They seem wayyyy over priced which is a shame as Melbourne is in DESPERATE need for a great ship like this.
Rare MicCanberra Posted November 7, 2018 #13 Share Posted November 7, 2018 I think the prices will likely drop when they realise they may have priced it a tad too high. Of course this will only happen if they cannot sell the cabins at these prices.

Rare MicCanberra Posted November 7, 2018 #15 Share Posted November 7, 2018 I am sure they don't many have room service or just grab a pastry and a coffee in Michael's club.
icat2000 Posted November 7, 2018 #16 Share Posted November 7, 2018 Very expensive. Really puts a dampen on it. I put it on my watch list. But no need to pay OTT to sail out of Melbourne for same same ports.

The_Big_M Posted November 8, 2018 #18 Share Posted November 8, 2018 Many go to oceanview café as well, which has much longer opening hours, and more selection. Having a drinks card would be very useful then. As throughout the rest of the day, as many don't want to stay in just one bar the whole cruise. Rare MicCanberra Posted November 8, 2018 #19 Share Posted November 8, 2018 I suppose that is what makes cruising good, there is something for every one.

It is two flights for us to get to Sydney now that Rex has cancelled the flying test-tube for us. Melbourne is far easier, with one flight, and I get to see my son. Now if we could get a ship based in Adelaide that would be easier again, only a 4 hour drive and more interesting for some people.
Rare MicCanberra Posted November 8, 2018 #21 Share Posted November 8, 2018 P&O does several cruises out of Adelaide each year.
The_Big_M Posted November 8, 2018 #22 Share Posted November 8, 2018 That's right, hence why drinks cards are still of benefit to many. I've heard the same with the nightly cocktails; some Elite members say they like those, whereas others say they are happier with the drinks cards so don't bother going to those either. Rare MicCanberra Posted November 8, 2018 #23 Share Posted November 8, 2018 I personally like to have a drink or two with friends so meeting at a bar somewhere on the ship is best for that. If I am in a suite then Michael's club, if not then at Elite drinks or one of the other bars.
