Millenium Updates

I understand that the Millenium is going into drydock shortly.  Does anyone know what improvements are scheduled to take place?

Not quite as exciting as the Celebrity marketing department would have you believe.

I do wonder what "Virtual dining entertainment" is though. Do you just get a picture of the food ?

Celebrity Revolution” fleetwide modernization project (USD 0,5 billion)

• Renovations include all staterooms and public spaces on 9 liners to bring their onboard amenities and services up to the standards of Edge-class ships. For staterooms were contracted HBA (Hirsch Bedner Associates / US-based hospitality interior design company) and Kelly Hoppen (UK-based interior designer).
• All staterooms are upgraded with eXhale bedding sets (premium cashmere mattresses) and high-tech amenities (RFID locks, Bluetooth, Xcelerate / Wi-Fi Internet).
• Renovated Celebrity cruise ships will have "The Retreat" (adults-only sundeck) with full-size swimming pool, Jacuzzi whirlpool, private cabanas, padded loungers, poolside bar service (food and drinks).
• Luminae Restaurant (Suites-only) is redesigned, new (custom-made) menus by chef Cornelius Gallagher are introduced.
• Qsine Restaurant is added fleetwide and will offer "Le Petit Chef" (virtual dining-entertainment experience) created by Skullmapping artists and presented by TableMation Studios exclusively for Celebrity Cruises.
• Main Dining Rooms, Oceanview Cafe and Sunset Bar redesigned, as well as most public venues
• In the SPA is added expanded SEA Thermal Suite.
• Retail shops are expanded with new brands - including Hublot (luxury Swiss watches) and Shinola (luxury watches, jewelry, premium leather goods).

Toiler, read about "le Petit Chef" and you'll understand what they mean.  If the search function of Cruise Critic is working, you should find lots of posts about it.

Don‘t know about your idea about exciting, but I think it is great.

 

The staterooms will be ripped out completely and she will receive new, Edge style staterooms. The venues will be redesigned. The suite areas will be changed completely, the Retreat will be added.

 

We booed a cruise on Millennium for 2020 and we are looking forward to seeing her shine in a new light.

 

Not crazy about Le Petit Chef though... a nice, but one time experience - and then?! Not much choice of other restaurants on M class. IMHO Tuscan Grille has lost its charme.

We are booked on the December 22, 2018--14 night Asia cruise--on Millennium...The ship is scheduled to go to drydock immediately after we disembark our cruise in Singapore on January 5...

Hard to tell what this entails or if it is even properly stated but since there are only two pools, either the indoor spa or the outdoor pool will be forbidden to children (the wording above seems to indicate the latter).

Le Petit Chef is a 3D video that plays on your plate before each course. It's very entertaining. We went to Qsine on the Infinity last month and really enjoyed it. I hope it's not the same one on Millenium, if it is, we will skip it. The creator came around the tables to talk to everyone and he mentioned that they have it on other Celebrity cruises and the story was different, so we hope that will be the case.
