martini_guy Posted November 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Just curious do they hand out NYE stuff like hats and noisemakers or should I bring my own? Does everyone just go to the pool deck or is there different options generally?
Luke Saint Joe Posted November 28, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Yes, you will receive hats & horns in your stateroom PLUS they will toss them into the crowds gathered in the atrium and/or on the Lido deck during the countdown. There will be plenty of champagne going around. There will be gold balloons on an upper deck surrounding atrium where you write a wish on a piece of paper & insert into the balloon. These balloons are gathered in a net & dropped down over the atrium during the countdown to midnight. Funny thing is, I think this was done at 11:00 since there are many events happening all night long. The ship will still be decorated beautifully for Christmas, too. Very festive. We've sailed the past two years for NYE; this year, Christmas.
fuddrules Posted December 1, 2018 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2018 (edited) We've gotten lots of Champagne as well and most assemble on the Lido deck. Edited December 1, 2018 by fuddrules
Joebucks Posted December 1, 2018 #4 Share Posted December 1, 2018 This sounds really fun. I've always wanted to see the ship decorated for Christmas, but Christmas time is tough for me as I would miss a ton of family events. NYE sounds like a good win-win. DramaQueen22 Posted December 2, 2018 #5 Share Posted December 2, 2018 We did last NYE on the Pride. Lots of fun! We had a late departure that day, so the start of the festivities were delayed. We got free hats and noisemakers at dinner. The balloon drop happened about 11:30, then everyone went up to the Lido for the countdown. The entertainment staff threw all sorts of fun goodies out...lighted glasses, those foam tubes that light up, t shirts, etc. Champagne freely available all around the deck. The rest of the cruise was "normal". Still fun though!
QtbuggMom Posted December 2, 2018 #6 Share Posted December 2, 2018 Thanks for the info! We are on the Conquest for New Years this year and it will be our first New Years cruise. Definitely looking forward to it.
Rare jimbo5544 Posted December 2, 2018 #7 Share Posted December 2, 2018 Have done two NYE cruises and would highly recommend the. It is like Times Square in the Caribbean, Free flowing champagne, including at embarkation and a whole lot of fun.
CarolSW Posted December 2, 2018 #8 Share Posted December 2, 2018 Agree! Lots of fun and energy on NYE cruises! We brought some of our own decorations and hats, and 2 bottles of champagne to enjoy in the cabin. But the crew supplies many of these things too during the festivities, starting with embarkation. There is also a late night breakfast offering in the buffet NYE night/early morning.
carnivaladdix120 Posted December 2, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 2, 2018 We sailed NYE last year and are sailing again this year and can't wait! Definitely lots of energy and fun! Like everyone else posted, they give out lots of fun NYE goodies and the balloon drop was awesome!
jaowel Posted December 2, 2018 #10 Share Posted December 2, 2018 We are so excited to be on the Fantasy for NYE! We typically only sail during spring break, so we are really looking forward to it!
scomar Posted December 2, 2018 #11 Share Posted December 2, 2018 Yes, we did a NYE cruise last year. Very fun. They handout a lot of the NYE accessories during that nights dinner in the MDR. Nothing like having 2,000 of your "new" closest friend shouting "Happy New Year" on the Lido. Like other post, they also did the balloon drop in the Atrium about 11:00-11:30. 1
SkyMaster Posted December 2, 2018 #12 Share Posted December 2, 2018 Yep, they hand out lots of New Years Eve stuff, have a BIG countdown up on the LIDO, and as noted above, let the champagne flow. Bottom line,,,,a FUN time is had by all. "SKY"
Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted December 2, 2018 #13 Share Posted December 2, 2018 Somehow that pic reminded me of the old Poseidon Adventure movie with Ernest Borgnine (sp) of McHale's Navy fame.
kcdancerkc Posted December 2, 2018 #14 Share Posted December 2, 2018 The problem for us is that we didn’t go to the MDR , so we did not get NYE garb, but enjoyed immensely anyway 😎
Sailing Smooth Posted December 4, 2018 #15 Share Posted December 4, 2018 How dressed up do people get? We have three daughters between 14-20. Do they need a special outfit? Are there any fun party favors we could bring along?

Are there any fun party favors we could bring along? I saw everything from Tux to jeans. You can get dress up however much you like, no special attire required. Bring along anything that would be allowed on the ship, they do hand out party favors though.

RobCaron Posted December 5, 2018 #18 Share Posted December 5, 2018 Have thought about doing this for NYE, but never have. Glad to hear all the positive feedback. It looks like fun!!
skrufy Posted December 6, 2018 #19 Share Posted December 6, 2018 Sounds like a great time was had by all. In our 15 years of cruising we have never done a NYE cruise. We finally booked one, make it two. B2B on the Fantasy for Christmas and New Years 2019-20. This cruise will be extra special. We went on our first cruise on the Fantasy, my wife’s favorite ship. She is so excited.
outdoors27 Posted December 6, 2018 #20 Share Posted December 6, 2018 We did our first NYE cruise this year and it was a great time on the Vista. CD Matt Mitcham did an amazing job that night and week as he always seems to do on his ships.
