Also on this Carnival Class you have more closet and storage space than on the new Vista and Panorama. Robes are no longer in Cabin but Stewards are pleased to bring them to you if you ask. I always eye the Lobster Rolls! So I might just do it this time!! I remember another ship we found that going up the steps avoided a lot of the crowd on embarkation day. I am glad that you enjoyed Glory!! Thank you!
cellfree Posted December 6, 2018 #28 Share Posted December 6, 2018 BTW I always ask for the Lobster Rolls with "butter only," I prefer it that way. I think if you do not specify "butter" you get the sauce. But I do realize everyone has different tastes. Also the fries that come with the Rolls are wonderful, I have always found different than anywhere else on the Ship.
Organized Chaos Posted December 6, 2018 #29 Share Posted December 6, 2018 If you do decide to leave Amber Cove, there are signs hanging around the pavilion where you get a taxi with prices to some of the more popular places. The pavilion is on the opposite end of the shopping complex from the pier. I believe the drinking age in the Dominican Republic is 18, but Amber Cove is a private port owned by Carnival Corp., so I'm not sure if that will have anything to do with it. We'd definitely like to go back there, it surprised us. We'd even do the cable car again, we enjoyed it that much. But I also wouldn't mind hanging out at the pool, even though that really isn't my style. It just looked nice.
momof3cruisers Posted December 7, 2018 #30 Share Posted December 7, 2018 My husband has a thought to add for your boys ar Amber Cove--the zip line is not like going through the wilderness, it's a straight shot over the pool. Still fun, but know what to expect. He is also a big fan of earbuds at Amber Cove because in the pool area, at least where we were, you here the "zing" of the zip line all day. Don't get me wrong. We REALLY enjoyed our day there. We like pools as well as beaches so the pool swimming without crowds of people AND in chlorinated water was very nice. raynvic Posted December 7, 2018 #32 Share Posted December 7, 2018 If you want a nice quiet place to enjoy a cocktail, the bar in the steakhouse is a nice place. If Lilibeth is still the bartender there give her hugs from her "cousins" Raymon and Vicky Castillo. We discovered we have the same last name. She sometimes works the "coffee shop" during the day. We found all of the bar staff on the Glory to be above our expectations and enjoyed getting to know many of them. Have a great time!

I know the zip line is kind of simple, but I figure a few times down and they will be bored with it! One child loves the pool over the beach, so I think he will really enjoy it here.

let's go cruising Posted January 6, 2019 #37 Share Posted January 6, 2019 Since some of you have recently been on the Glory, what is the situation with USB ports and plugs? We haven't been on a Carnival ship in 5 years. A LOT has changed in that time! We leave Saturday!!!!

Bring extension cords!
sapphire_407 Posted January 7, 2019 #39 Share Posted January 7, 2019 I'm on the Glory now. Check out the Hispaniola Band. Latin music. They are fantastic. Didn't understand a word they sang but wow are they ever great musicians. They deserve a bigger stage than a cruise ship.

We usually try to do a balcony for my husband and I, and then put the boys in an inside cabin across the hall, but cruising Christmas week, we just can't be spending that money, I would rather do an additional cruise another time! So now we are next to each other. The light in the day is nice, and I do go out on the deck with my kindle and coffee or wine and chill! I am glad that you enjoyed the ship, and I really appreciate you commenting on it! Thank you!! Curious what rooms count as interior but are outside rooms....do tell! The category I think is 4J. The very front of the ship. There are a few cabins in a hallway, they are small, but there is a big picture window. If you open the curtain, you can't see much do to the railing on the ship, but you do get light. From the front of the hallway, you can go out the door to the front of the ship. There is a bench, you can sit there and enjoy the view. At night you must keep the curtain in the room closed, it can interfere with the bridge. Clarasgrandma Posted January 7, 2019 #42 Share Posted January 7, 2019 thanks! I think I will consider trying out a 4J on one of my future cruises! That sounds like a nice change!

If your 20 year old acts like an adult, no one will ever know as the point is primarily to keep out screaming kids. Honestly, we only went to serenity one night to dance, the 20 year old hit the casino that night. The aft pool stayed adult only on our Christmas cruise, and was actively monitored. The three of us spent a lot of time there. They were actually going up to people, making them get out of pool or hot tub and show ID. I was shocked at some they asked, to me they were obviously over 18.
