I will be on her January 27th for the second time. I wouldn't call these "Secrets"? More like Tidbits I've gotten from Cruise Critic and from my own experience.

Bring a power strip as there is usually just two outlets, at least in my balcony cabin.

Margaritaville is a great alternative to the buffet for breakfast. It’s a smaller version of the buffet. Eggs, made to order omelets, sides, and such, just without all the lines from the buffet. Just walk in and seat yourself.

I've heard on the Sea Days there is a free lunch buffet at Moderno. One was Tastes of Spain and the other was Tastes of India. Very good Salad Bar.

On Sea Days Ocean Blue has a window from which you can purchase delicious Lobster Rolls.

If you plan on attending Cirque Dreams and Steam show pay a little extra for floor seating verses banquet seating.

If you want to SaiI with NCL again I would recommend getting their Credit Card and purchasing a couple Cruise Next Certificates. Both will provide you with onboard credit that will off set Norwegians "Feestyle" Cruising. I booked my balcony cabin more than 6 months out so was able to put down 2 Cruise Next certificates which was a $500 deposit.

I think I took these about 3 years ago.  But here's a bunch of pictures of the Getaway.  She is still mostly the same, although the open deck Cuban and breakfast grill has been changed into something else.

We just got off the Getaway this Sunday.  We loved the waterfront and going for walks during the afternoon or after dinner.  It is a great place to just relax and enjoy being on a cruise.

I would avoid the casino area since the smoke smell was horrible, worst than other ships we have been on.....IF smoke bothers you.  Also the Sunset Bar has an outdoor bar on the waterfront.  They allow smoking there so whenever anyone goes in and out of that door the smell coming inside is horrible.

Definitely see the Cirque show.  It was worth the money.  Get to all other shows at least a half hour before start time to get the best seats.

On sea days if you want Wasabi get there right when it opens up as there will be a huge line for sushi and there is minimal seating.  We lucked out for lunch but after us the line was long.

We liked Ocean Blue the best for our specialty dining and La Cucina the least because of the service.  On the Epic we loved La Cucina so go figure.

I wanted to eat outside on the waterfront before we left for the cruise, but once there I realized it wouldn't work out.  It was either too humid or very windy.  Most stayed indoors in the restaurants.  I guess it depends on the weather you have and your itinerary.

Ask for a Peach Pina Colada!!!  Such a yummy drink to at least try once!

Get up early to get a lounger and enjoy the morning sun.  It is a great way to start the day and the sun isn't as strong.   Plus the chair hogs are always out in full force!!!  I saw chairs reserved at 6:30 am!!!

We booked the Thermal Spa and wish we didn't.  It was always so crowded, loud and a waste of money for us.  Once again the chair hogs were present.  After a few attempts of going we just gave up.  I'd save your money for something else on the ship if you were thinking of getting this package.

The ship was very clean and in good condition.  I am sure you will have a great vacation!!!  Any day on a cruise is better than a day in the real world!!!

I sailed the Getaway back in May 2016 so I know some things have changed. But my biggest tip is that if you are a mojito drinker, Sugarcane Mojito bar makes fresh mojitos while the majority (if not all) of the other bars use a mix. It makes a huge difference in taste (both are included in the beverage package). And they play live music by Sugarcane's at various times throughout the day/night. It was always a good place to get a drink before and/or after dinner.

Have fun on your cruise, the Getaway is a great ship!

If you like the style of food.....Hit the noodle bar early on in the cruise, great free venue, but as more people discover it as the week goes on, it gets more and more crowded.

Again....if you like the style of food (and they haven't changed the menu in the last couple years)….the raw bar at ocean blue is great for tuna crudo and black bass ceviche, and again gets more crowded as the week goes along
