spunke Posted January 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2019 We are considering the Zaandam in August for our anniversary. Typically, we cruise to the caribbean so this would be our first cruise to this area. Can anyone who has been on this typee of curse chime in with their thoughts? We are looking for some cooler weather in the summer but would like to know what are the big drawers to Bar Harbor, Halifax and Charlottetown ?? Are they just small fishing towns to explore or are they small beaches and summer things to do as well? Thank you
Rare LHT28 Posted January 12, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2019 not sure you will get cooler weather in August then again it depends on what you consider cool depends on what interest you but check out the tourism sites https://www.novascotia.com/about-nova-scotia/regions/halifax-metro?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzLS_uJvp3wIVCqtpCh3OIwBLEAAYASAAEgKELvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds https://www.tourismpei.com/pei-things-to-do

Host Carolyn Posted January 13, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2019 I've been on that cruise in September when it was in the high 70s (a little unusual). Halifax is a metropolitan area with lots of options In town; many choose to take an excursion to Peggy's Cove. Bar Harbor in August will still have "summer people", very picturesque lively little town. None of these are really "beach" places but unique and lovely in their own right. 1025cruise Posted January 13, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2019 The big thing in Bar Harbor is Acadia National Park. So assuming the government is open by then, definitely plan to tour it.
