Transportation from Disney World to Fort Lauderdale

We are going with our grand babies to Disney then taking a relaxing cruise after. What is the best way to get from Disney to Fort Lauderdale 17th street?

I'd do a one-way rental car.

I agree.  With a family, get a rental car with car seats.  Lots of agencies are happy to have you take cars from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale.  You should be able to find one-way rentals without drop-off fees.

Sorry... grandbabies not going on cruise with us. It’s just us 2. Not real big on driving. Hoping there is another alternative.

Southwest, Spirit, United, and Silver all cover the route. It's a popular route. And cheap. Just fly.

Flying will likely cost more and with the time to get to the airport, check in, clear TSA, and collect your bags on the other end will take longer than a one way car rental.  The drive is easy and takes about 3.5 hours.  Take another look - your call!

OP said they don't want to drive.  You can pick up flights for $50.  One way car rental plus gas, tolls, etc.  It's not far off I bet.  And if you get to the airport an hour before the flight, you'll still get to FLL before someone driving.  I know, I've done that flight several times.  It's also so much less stressful.  You hang out at the airport.  Quick flight, done.  I hate the drive to Orlando.  So I totally understand the desire to avoid it.

 

Plus the time getting to the car rental place.  Renting the car, then turning the car in.  That will add 30 - 60 minutes, too.  It's way faster to fly and much less stress.

I just booked southwest. We feel the time and stress level are worth the money. Thank you all for the ideas and help after all we did get a “free” cruise!
