Are all of the balconies covered and are any decks or locations better than others?

Stay away from the outdoor smoking area on deck 5.

Yes, all are covered.

 

Location quality depends on what you want to be near or to avoid.

 

mets123 means to avoid booking on Decks 6 or 7 starboard aft.  That area is over the "bus stop" where smoking is permitted on Deck 5.  I have had a Deck 6 balcony there, however, and had no problems with smoke.

 

I would not book on Deck 6 port midship, because you get noise and smells from Jamie's below you.

I forget if it was a youtube video or some other post I've seen, but there are some balconies with an overhang -- I think on Deck 13 -- that offer less sun than others.  You'd have to look at the pictures of the outside of the ship.  Can't say for sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but the advice given was to avoid the overhang.  Maybe someone who has had one of those cabins can comment.

Deck 13 balconies do have quite an overhang which blocks most daytime sunlight, Beautiful all the same!

All balconies are covered by the deck above.  You will get plenty of light, but only direct sun in early morning or late afternoon, when the sun is lower in the sky.  Having shade doesn't make the balcony "dark".
