charlies_mom Posted February 9, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2019 Hi there, Our trip is a week away and this teacher is really looking forward to a week of relaxing and drinking pina coladas! My amazing students gave me prepaid visa gift cards for the holidays. Is there anyway to use these on the cruise? Can I put the value on my account, or pay my account with them, or use them at the bar? Nothing better than "free" drinks!! Second question. We booked two cabins for my family. We booked an adult in each cabin, as was necessary, but we would like to have access to both cabins (if you know what I mean *wink*). How do we get an extra room key for each of our cabins. thank you all so much!!!

kerryincork Posted February 9, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2019 Not sure about the pre paid visa card. But if you want an extra room key you just go to the service desk and ask for 1. The cruise ship doesn't care where you sleep.
Ken at the beach Posted February 9, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2019 No disguise required, they issue extra keys all the time.
bigeck Posted February 9, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2019 No problem with pre paid visa. I use them all the time. More secure than giving your own card number. Just keep a check on your tv how much your using. You can go to GS and change cards if you like. You can also take cash from them at the casino. Thanks so much! Can you please tell me a little more? When you set up your account, did you put the prepaid card in, instead of a regular credit card? Can you do this online, or only at guest service? I certainly don't have enough to cover all of our expenses and our gratuities. Should I add a regular credit card when they are all used up? Sorry for the million questions!!

cb at sea Posted February 9, 2019 #9 Share Posted February 9, 2019 If your children are old enough to be in the room by themselves, you can switch room occupants once onboard. The "adult in each room" is for booking purposes only! They don't really care who sleeps where! GS can issue the correct keys, so you don't need to juggle multiples! If the cards are from the same company you might be able to combine them with a phone call. Try the company web site and register them and you could top them up. If you cant top them up, once they are done, you can add your own card or pay cash When you do your online check in, use one of the cards to set up your account. Guest Services can update that at any time and it active immediately. Or you could use your own card to cover your account and use the pre paid to get lunch or something in the ports you are going to. TVLady3 Posted February 10, 2019 #11 Share Posted February 10, 2019 I have a cruise coming up and I was given a $100 Visa card for Christmas. I called RC and had the total amount put on my account to use as On Board Credit! Easy Peezy!

I called RC and had the total amount put on my account to use as On Board Credit! Easy Peezy! I would recommend buying OBC in advance as stated above. A "generic" prepaid Visa won't always be accepted as the assigned payment on your account because it doesn't have your name printed on it (based on posts I've seen here in the past). Just pre-purchase OBC before you leave, and you don't have to keep going back and forth to Guest Services to have them process each card individually for the amount of the card. Who wants to spend your vacation time at Guest Services? Also, if the rooms are next to each other or across the hall, it's NOT necessary to book an adult in each one -- only if they are not nearby. You could just switch the names before you sail so the adults are in one room and the kids are in another, and don't worry about keeping track of extra keys. (You can still get a key to the kids' room at Guest Services, though, to be able to keep tabs on them.)
