Places to stay in Sydney

We will be arriving a day early for our cruise and would like any information regarding a good place to stay.  Also what would be the cost of a taxi from the airport to town.

We here would love to suggest a hotel.

Sydney like all cities are very expensive.

If you can tell us your budget and style or a favourite brand of hotel ?

The closer to the harbour the more expensive.

We are looking for a hotel for next year in March, price up to about $299 a night. There are three people in our group.  Have stayed in Holiday Inns, Crown Plaza and or a nice B&B. Also would like info on how to get from airport to downtown Sydney. Any info would be appreciated. Also when looking at hotel sights they show already sold out.  Don't know if this is because it is too far out to book

Might be a bit far out, that’s over a year away.

One thing there’s two cruise ports in Sydney,I’m assuming it’s circular quay?

A year away you should be able to get a good deal.

You are only staying for one night,I would make the best of it a stay in the rocks.

Theres a holiday inn at the rocks called old town Sydney holiday inn. That should suite you.

Taxi will cost about $50 ,don’t bother with a shuttle they have a bad reputation in Sydney.

Have a look at that hotel ,it is popular with cruisers.a short walk to your ship and in the heart of the tourist area.

Thank you for the info.  Also can you tell me if taxi accept credit cards.

They do but I believe there’s surcharge, ask before you get in.

There’s ATMs in the arrival area at the airport.

You should be able to get the Ibis Darling Harbour for this rate if you are happy to pay a non refundable amount.  It is a taxi/uber/shuttle or longish walk (30 minutes or so) but the location is a good one.  Darling Harbour has lots to do and see.  It is what you would expect of an Ibis.  Wynyard Travelodge would also suit.  Good location for Sydney CBD shopping and restaurants, not the buzz of darling harbour but excellent for trains.  You could train to circular quay or it is about a 15 minute walk.

Taxis can be expensive ... if you only have a couple of bags...  then the airport has a railway station that takes you directly to Circular Quay which is where the Overseas Passenger Terminal is... along with the harbour ferry services.

Depending on the time your cruise departs you could even find accommodation in Manly (a beautiful beachside suburb of Sydney) which is a 30min. ferry ride from the Quay (just putting it out there) There is plenty of accommodation in Manly at probably a much more reasonable rate than the CBD. Hope you enjoy your stay and your cruise. 🙂

An excellent suggestion. Thinking outside the square.
