25 days until we cruise on the Sunshine....... sorry to 'yell' but I'm starting to get excited  🙂  Thanks everyone for the tips and info on the ship, any place you loved having dinner the night before in Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach area?  We love live music and seafood...... and are pretty low maintenance . We are staying at Raddison by the port

We have gone to either Fishlips or Rusty's to eat the day before our cruise.  They're both located at the port area right on the waterside.  Both are great options, be sure and go early before ships set sail and you can order food and drinks while waiting for them to sail out.  Fishlips has an early cocktail hour with good appetizers or can order from menu.  They also usually have live music performing and pretty good most of the time.  It's become a tradition for us whenever we sail from PC to grab some food and few cocktails and watch as everyone sails out to sea.  We just imagine that the next day we will be the lucky ones going out. 😁

We sailed May 2018 on the Sunshine and will never again do that ship.

The smell of smoke is as bad as everyone says. Smells go out into the Atrium area also.

My main problem with the ship is I felt every vibration from the engines. On an 8 day cruise I was ill 6 days.

Never have I felt this way in 20+ cruises.   The food was wonderful both at the Lido deck and MDR.

I could only eat in the MDR section closest to the middle of the boat. If I went any further back I started to feel sick.

The Comedy club is Sooo Small for a ship this size. Therefore you had to get in line early to get a seat where you could see the stage & not have to watch it on TV.  The staff were excellent in all the departments. The cabins are also very nice.    Enjoyed the ports to.

Sorry you had a not so good experience. Sunshine had a pretty extensive drydock in October 2018 that addressed the majority of those issues. We didn't notice any vibration when we sailed her in November.

We are about to go on our 4th trip on the Sunshine next month. It has been one of our favorite ships. That being said, on our last cruise in October we had two adjoining ocean view rooms on deck 1 and one of them had the most awful noise from the window any time the ship was in motion. We were the 2nd and 3rd room from the front and I will never do that again. Between the creaking window and the noise/motion of the waves, it was pretty miserable in our room. Everything else was wonderful, so we are again going on the Sunshine next month, this time with a mid-ship room!

Every ship in Carnival's fleet has a free sauna in the locker room area. The ships with Cloud 9 Spa offer steam rooms at an additional fee.

Does anyone have a recent dinner menu list ?

Also, do they have a free sauna/steam room in the spa area?

Thanks in advance !!

Regarding sauna/steam rooms, I found this in another thread....

anybody know where the laundry facilities are ??

Self Service Laundromats (passenger use launderettes). Laundry facilities are at extra-charge – $3,25 (per washer or dryer load) and $1,5 per box (detergent/water softener, dispensed from the vending machine in the room). Launderettes (open between 6:30 am – 12 midnight) are located on all cabin decks. Each laundry room is equipped with 2-3 washers, 2-3 dryers, 1 ironing board/iron. All laundry machines are coinless (can be operated using S&S cards only). While the ship is in port, washing machines are closed (only dryers and irons can be used). Valet laundry service is handled through the cabin steward. Prices are per item – wash-and-press ($2 – $7,50) and dry-cleaning ($3 – $10,50).

There is at least one (maybe only ever one) self-serve laundromat per deck, usually located a bit aft of mid-ship for the decks that are mostly cabins, IIRC.  I seem to recall they were on the starboard inside for our cruise in Dec 2018 on Sunshine, deck 7.

The cakes were very good and included key lime pie one day and key lime cheesecake another.  Anytime I was there they had a good selection and it didn't take cruisers very long to find them!

As to a sewer smell I never noticed anything like that and we were on deck 2 aft.  I forgot to mention the Shake-Spot was another highlight on this ship with great milkshakes, floats, and special coffees.  This was the first time I've had an old fashioned ice-cream soda in years.

Looking at February 2020 schedules it's sad to see her only doing 4 & 5 day cruises.  We'd do a B2B on her in a heartbeat if they were 7 or 8 day cruises.

We are looking at doing a b2b on her in 2020 as well.  5 days just isn't long enough : ))

The smoke from the casino spills into the sports bar because it opens into it and many smokers stand just outside the large opening into the sports bar and smoke, they are watching the tvs, not gambling because there are no machines right there, so if you plan on using the sports bar it might bother you, other than that and the casino and the hallway outside the other end of the casino where the elevators are we did not notice any smoke smell.

We found the ship extremely cold to the point of uncomfortable near the Alchemy bar and in the Red Frog Pub which is also the area where trivia etc is played so we avoided that area except when getting our any time dining table assigned, would have liked to participate in a few games but even with a sweatshirt I was still uncomfortable.

We really enjoyed the ship other those few complaints.

You just reminded me to take my sweats on upcoming cruise. Thanks!

We were on the Horizon last year. There was a very loud whistling sound coming from our balcony door while we were at sea. It was so loud it was hard to sleep. We also had a loud banging sound near our hall door that happened while we were at sea and this kept us up, too. We called Guest Services while we were moving around 10PM so they could hear the noises for themselves.

A maintenance worker come to our cabin immediately. Tightened a bolt near the hall door and another near our balcony door. Both noises stopped and we were able to sleep that night. If you hear noises like this, be sure to tell your room steward or call Guest Services. The few times we have called with a similar problem, the response has been quick. No one wants to be kept awake every night on vacation. We have been on the Sunshine several times and truly love the ship-these have been some of our favorite cruises! Go and have a memorable cruise!

We sailed on Sunshine a little over a month ago.  Although overall it was a great cruise, and we love Mikey Gibson, we have no desire to cruise on her again. The Limelight Lounge is ridiculously small and the Serenity area is anything but serene.

While the Havana Bar area at the back of the ship is really nice, I think it would have been smarter to keep the aft pool area there.  It appears they are doing that on Sunrise and Radiance.

All casinos on all the ships are smokey.  In my opinion, one is not any worse than another.  I can see if you are extra sensative to smoke, you might be able to tell the difference.  As a non smoker, I avoid the casinos.  I wish the cruise lines would ban smoking there.  There are more non smokers than smokers. It would seem they would make more money as more non smokers would gamble.  I would.

It's been tried before and it was a flop.. They will not ban smoking in the casinos, that would be a huge mistake..

Just came off the Sunshine, May 5-12 sailing.

My husband smokes, and does most of his smoking in the casino. I noticed that the smoke smell was a little heavier on this ship then prior ships (Glory and Magic). I noticed while in the casino that they don’t have the big industrial air purifiers as I have seen on the prior ships mentioned, may be the culprit. The only deck I smelled the smoke on was deck 4, just before and just after the casino.

Was not impressed with the service onboard, with the exception of our room steward everyone else was pretty mediocre at best. The MDR staff was less than ideal, examples....asked for lemon for water, numerous times to receive, had to find a pot of coffee on the two times we went to breakfast and pour my own refills. The service was something I would expect from a fast food restaurant. Just my opinion though.

We had room 7118, we felt the ship vibrations ALOT. I spent 16 years in the Navy and was on much smaller ships that could handle the seas (maybe 6-8 foot) much better than this large cruise ship.

Not it impressed and won’t sail on her again.

Just my two cents.

Appreciate your thoughts.  I am sorry to hear about your cabin as we are booked in this area for 2020.  We only booked this cruise because I want to go to Cuba and the port is a short drive for us.  We haven't cruised Carnival since 2015.  We tried Celebrity in 2015 and never looked back.  We have also sprinkled in some HAL and Princess in since then.
