ccturner26 Posted March 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2019 We generally put cash into our sail and sign card, and do not have credit cards. Does anyone know the amount the hold is for a 7 day cruise pp for debit cards? I know it takes longer to drop off, which is fine if you have that cushion. I checked the Carnival site and the link goes nowhere.
mickiemac Posted March 8, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2019 The hold lasts several days(maybe a week) after you return from your cruise.
joepeka Posted March 8, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2019 Check this out - it details the credit and debit card hold situation including the initial hold amount: https://help.goccl.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1138/kw/credit card hold
Aplmac Posted March 8, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2019 Stick with Cash - it's so much simpler than tangling with Banks and Carnival's holds! I've been doing cash forever and never had/have problems!
klfrodo Posted March 8, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2019 (edited) The HUGE problem is, it's not just 1 hold. Whenever the initial amount held is close to running out, they call and get another authorization, and repeat for the duration of the cruise. You could end up with a final bill charged of $500 but still have an additional $500 to $1000 worth of Holds that won't come off and free up your funds for a few days to a few weeks.
