Hello,

Thanks in advance for any advice or help given.

Sailing on the NCL Jade on the 13/10/19, arriving back at Civitavecchia on the 24/10/19 @ 6.00am.

Our return flight is from Rome Ciampino Airport at 11.25.

First hopefully this doable, and if anyone has any advice on best / most reliable way of doing this journey.

We arrive in Rome on the 12/10/19 around 10.00 am,  any thoughts if you think best to stay in Rome for one night or Civitavecchia. Any hotel recommendations for Civitavecchia??

thanks again...

Probably your only choice to make the 11:25 flight is taxi or private transfer.

I would always choose to stay in Rome. If you look down the board there are a few threads on hotels in Civi. Not a lot of hotels, but a couple to choose from.

I too would recommend staying in Rome.

I like staying in the historical center: you can check booking.com or TripAdvisor but frequently recommended are: 9 Hotel Cesare (https://www.9-hotel-cesari-rome.it/en/), Albergo Santa Chiara - close to the Pantheon (https://www.albergosantachiara.com/en/), & a favorite of mine, K Boutique Hotel (not as centrally located as the previous two but right off Via Cavour with easy access to metro with about an 8 minute walk to the colosseum or a 1 minute trip via metro - https://www.thekhotel.it/ ).

Flying RyanAir?

Ciampino is a nightmare from Rome city centre, but from Civitavecchia is not too bad using E80 route round Rome.  Ciampino is South (ish) of Rome whereas FCO is North West of Rome. FCO is closer to Civitavecchia whereas CIA is further!  That being said if you arrange a private transfer you will be ok.

Ciampino is a small airport, mostly military, and very few facilities.  When I say few facilities, I mean almost nothing by way of facilities.  Everything crowded and chaotic.

I would recommend a private transfer like Stefano's Rome Cabs, who will collect you at debarking point and take you direct to Ciampino. http://www.romecabs.com/transferservice/civitavecchia/  It's expensive, but will get you there reliably.

  • 4 weeks later...

A number of us on the roll call were flying (Ryanair) from Ciampino and got together to book a private minibus transfer back to the airport. I can't remember which company we used but I found it on Google
